OLIVER R. TARWATER BIBLE AWARD The frien ds of Oliver R. Tar- water, Sr., through Mrs. Kenneth L. Martin, Maryville, Tennessee, have given an endowment fund to be known as the OLIVER R. TARWATER BIBLE MEMO¬ RIAL FUND in honor and mem¬ ory of Oliver R. Tarwater, Sr. He knew and loved the Bible and his sermons were noted for their Biblical emphasis. The income from this fund is to be used to give an award to the Life Service student who has made outstand¬ ing grades in Bible and who shows the most promise in the service of the Church. The 1976 recipient of this award is Teck Hock Tan from Kapit, Sarawak, East Malaysia. THE SIDNEY G. GALBREATH CITIZENSHIP AWARE The SIDNEY G. GALBREATII CIT ZENSHIP AWARD is presented to a Sopho¬ more student displaying outstanding quali¬ ties in leadership, honesty, loyalty, personal¬ ity, and cooperation. The 1976 recipient of this award is Helen Ruth Burns from Town¬ send, Tennessee.

The recipient of this award is selected by faculty and students. The 1976 recipient of this award is Larry Doka Gaultney from Bean Station, Tennessee. J.H. BRUNNER HONORS AWARD The J. H. YOUELL ATHLETIC AWARD CHEMISTRY AWARD The YOUELL ATHLETIC AWARD is presented annually to the graduating athlete whose participation in the Athletic Program, performance in academic pursuits, and qualities of citizenship reflect a high degree of achievement in relation to the ideals of Hiwassce College. The recipient of this award is nominated by the Awards Committee and approved by the faculty of the College. The 1976 recipient of this award is Mike Messamore from Loudon, Tennessee. The CHEMICAL RUBBER COMPANY AWARD is given annually to the student making the most progress in chemistry. The 1976 recipient is Gordon Miller from Madisonville. Tennessee. HIWASSEE’S BOARD REPRESENTATIVE Ms. Sheree Lou Scruggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Scruggs of Route 2, Madisonville, Tennessee, is a very important student at Hiwassee College. Ms. Scruggs represents the students of Hiwassee on the Board of Represen¬ tatives from Hiwassee, Tennessee Wesleyan and Emory and Henry. Ms. Scruggs was chosen through a screening process last year by the Dean of Students. She was chosen on the basis of the G.P.A.. personality, and previous organi¬ zational involvement. Sheree is the first female student chosen to represent Hiwassee on the Board.
