AND ONE MAN IN HIS TIME PLAYS MANY PARTS .. BAHAMA’S OR BUST On Thursday, April 29, 1976, 37 Sophomore students and 3 chaperones left Hiwassee College on the trip of a lifetime. They had worked hard for an entire year to raise money to help defray the costs of a trip to the Bahama Islands. Early on the morning of the 30’th, the group arrived in Miami Beach, Florida, wide awake and alert. Midday, the 40 people boarded the ship, T.S. Flavia, for a trip that would remain forever in their memories. For three days, the people were typical tourists soaking up the sun as they enjoyed the exciting life they had always heard about. Sad they were to leave the islands, but happy nevertheless to see the United States again. Driving all morning after disembarking from the boat, the group arrived in Orlando, Florida, and checked into a motel. The entire afternoon was spent enjoying the pool. Bright and early the next morning the group traveled to the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World. The only regret was that there was not enough time to see everything. The group left Disney World at 2:00 and drove all evening, arriving at Hiwassee 2:00 A.M. Wednesday morning. This indeed was an experience long to be remembered and treasured. Randy Akron, Ohio Freshman RICK KENNEDY—MANAGING EDITOR MICHELE MANN—BUSINESS MANAGER “I can’t be contented with yesterday’s glories; I can’t live on promises winter to spring. Today is my moment and this is my story; I’ll laugh and I’ll cry and I’ll sing.” So goes the last verse of “Today.” It is a sad moment to take that last walk through the Hiwassee meadows, to have to say good-bye to a friend, or to break the last tie with Hiwassee College. So it is as I type this last page for the 1976 Hiwassee Yearbook. All of us will move on but, hopefully, not forget to take with us all the joys that are ours. There have been so many good times, so many invaluable experiences, so many helpful people. It has been my pleasure to have a part in such an undertaking. May this yearbook bring many happy memories to you tomorrow as you look back on all the “todays” you spent at Hiwassee College. Ricky B. Kennedy 1976 “Hiwassee” Editor 140
