Faced with seven letter men back and a good squad of new material on the field, it seemed as if the team was headed for a banner year on the gridiron. The injury jinx stepped in early, however, and not at any time during the season was th-e team in possession of its full strength. “Coach worked with untiring efforts, and fought with them to the end. • CoachV ' ability is sure to bring in the results, and we are expecting great things next year. RALPH (“SLEEPY”) WADE Captain | • Sleepy” was on crutches most of the season: but when in the game, he showed his ability with his pre- cision in directing the plays of the team as well as with- his runs This was his second year as our quarter- back. and his courage in the face of odds and his leadership will, make him sorely missed. Quarterback Siler is a snappy field general, with nice kicking and passing ability. Siler’s gains usually came at moments when they were sorely needed. TOM FURGASON. Tackle “Firpo” is a hard-hitting, hard-fighting defensive lineman. He went into battle with a yell, and he loves a good scrap. J. A. YOUELL. Tackle Jay” rendered great service with his fighting aggressiveness; and if he likes anything better than one hard scrap, it’s two. VASTINE WILDSMITH. Halfback Teen” was one of the main cogs on the offense, due to his accurate passing ability. Pluck and game- ness are two of Teen’s” main assets. “Teen,” old man, we hate to lo.se you. MASON STEWART. Guard “Bud” is a hard-fighting man. who never gives up. He missed his letter by only a small margin. Come back. “Bud.” and show them how. ■e 3M Pretty Fawn £■ FOOTBALL JOHN REEDY, Tackle “Big John” was a good tackle and hard to shake. He rendered valuable service to the team throughout the season. CLYDE BROCK. Fullback Brock is a great defensive back, and he gained consistently with his bone-crushing drives at the line. He was elected Co-Captain for next year. GLENN COLLEY. Tackle A big man. with grit and determination, which made him an important cog in the machine. CHARLES WHEELER. Guard Charlie proved himself a natural-born football player, and displayed a fighting ”stick-to-it spirit. ROBERT FISHER. Halfback Bob” is a twisting ball-toting halfback and a good pass receiver. His long spirals down the field always kept the enemy at bay. FRANK McBRIDE, Center Our veteran Center held down his position in grand style this season, his last year. Service rendered is all to Hush ' s” credit. We are sorry to lose you, “Hush.” 40 FOOTBALL ALBERT HOCKENJOS. Guard ' Hock ' ' proved himself a good lineman, with plenty of scrap, letter. Injuries kept “Hock” from making his EARL GILLESPIE. Halfback Pug” was a package of so much dynamite. A hard-running back, who liked Fug ' hit them, they stayed hit.
