C. Inside, Looking out! SUMMERTIME at Hirschi is indeed a quiet time. Students are gone, but plans and Work in the offices continue as prepara- tions are made for another year. The halls are empty, the patio is serene, and the building seems to be taking a breather, re- laxing before the onslaught of a new year. a. Gym Dandies decorate the halls to welcome the return of the stu- dents. b. Serenity still governs at Hirschi. C. The gateway to Hirschi. Story 19 9 l fi Tliiif , X a. Sharon Lippe sits amid pompoms. b. Vicki Westerhoff and Debby Swinney are always all smiles. c. Becky Westerhoff and Cindy Mann are two fine examples of Husky spirit. d. Marilyn Gwynn may be little, but every inch of her backs the Huskies. e. Cindy Grogan keeps the pep rally going with her antics as Husky Spirit. 20 Story Cheerleaders Prepare for a Big Year 9? iwafsie.. ' The cheerleaders were full of spirit and enthusi- asm at the summer work- shop held at Harrell School in Wichita Falls in preparation for a great year. Winning four su- perior awards, one excel- lent award, and the Spirit Stick in overall competi- tion, the cheerleaders showed their ability to lead the school in true Husky spirit. a. Student Council Awareness Assembly. 1 22 Story Several Hirschi students attended a summer workshop in Houston Where ideas for involving all students in council activities and methods of expressing appreciation to faculty members highlighted the sessions Other summer activities included planning for hosting the District XII Convention of Texas Association of Student Council and planning a full calendar of activities for the 74-75 school year. -+-b....,. 3 Student Council Plans cz Very Busy Y ear a. Vice-President Roger Herrera takes over at council meeting. b. Several members attended the workshop. c. Introducing the council to the student body at the Awareness Assembly. Story 23 a Q.. Sherry Martin and Irene Snider show the drill team how it's done. b. The smi1ing HiLites. c. Patrice Little does her thing. d. We caught Leslie Copeland during a pep rally. e. Practice makes perfect. 24 Story ew Routznes Learned at ummer Workshops To prepare for the 1974 season of half-time per- formances, the HiLites attended two summer Workshops. At North Texas State in Denton, The HiLites earned a total of forty-two blue ribbons and thirty-four red ribbons with the team placing SECOND in over- all competition. Two stu- dents attended the work- shop at Southern Methodist University. a. Summertime practices get the drill team in shape for another busy year. b. A hat-dance routine for half-time. c. Conference keep the drill team in line. Story 25 Nineteen members of the '75 HUSKY staff attended Workshops at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls and Texas Tech University in Lubbock to plan for the publication of the thirteenth yearbook l published by Hirschi students. A beautiful trophy for the BEST LAY OUT DESIGN awarded by Taylor Publishing Company was the high- light of the Tech Workshop. l 26 Story v : 1-f? ix a. Gerri Stone goes boy-scouting. b. Cindy, Alisa, Eva and Dorothy talk it over. .48 The M ighty H irschi Husky Band Summer vacation for members of the band was short-lived as they re- ported to the Midwestern University campus for band camp. Hours of in- struction interspersed With coke -breaks proved an invaluable aid as the students later began preparations for half- time activities immedi- ately upon reporting for pre-school practice. a. Becky cracks-up during some of that Husky Spirit. 30 Story At least two weeks before the fall session officially begins, I-lirschi students report for practice for the band, the drill team, the cheerleaders, and the football teams. Hot weather was indeed a killer, but it did not kill the spirit in Huskyland! H333 a. Husky band members start practice sessions two weeks before school starts. b. Hirschi's newest team sport. c. Danny Swanson puzzles over a complex engine. d. Practice in August dictates air-conditioned suits! Story 31 I a. Look! no underarm stains. b. Look what my car hatched! c. What in the wor1d's going on here?? d. Teachers listen atten- tively. 32 Story X Although the first days are indeed hot, several groups continue to make final preparations for the opening of school. Foot- ball practice, teachers' meetings, and student aids try to concentrate on the days ahead. a. Coach, don't forget to let go! b. Mrs. jean Lewis is a hard thinker. c. Hey Mote, your heh-net's on crooked! d. I hope no one noticed my dandruff! W SFP 5 5 lfwwwx Hawks Kick H irschi, 3-0 A defensive battle ensued the night Hirschi met the Hawks at the Memorial Stadium. All evening, Husky fans cheered the powerful defensive team as they kept the score intact at 0-0. Only in the last heart-breaking seconds did the Hawks sneak by with a field goal to win the game. Q.. Wind blown but happy, Becky keeps those cheers comin'. b. Coach Largin and the men feel every crunching blow. c. Eric Jones assures the Huskies a first down. d. The Husky Band marches on and on. In this special week, each class took the theme: A Step Toward the Future, and made a float. Also on given days, each class had their Own day to have the rest of the school recognize them by dressing up and showing their spirit. Huskies especially look forward to the dance which ends Fall Festival Week. This year, we tantalized our toes to the tunes of FRIEND- SHIP. a. The Seniors' Fall Festival Float. b. Through thick and thin, the staff has always published the best yearbooks showing Husky spirit, and in general, reflecting a year of love and growth in the life of every Husky. a. Mrs. Hulsey Waits for the audi- ence to settle down so she may present the yearbook sales cam- paign. b. Some of the many tools used by the staff to ,make this edi- tion of THE HUSKY possible. c. Another staff project is the distri- bution of the individual class pic- ture packets. Story 45 46 Story a. Strike up the Band!! b. Even LITTLE irls like the Huskies g . c. In the gruel- ing duel that followed, the Trojans were forced to struggle under the strong thumb of the Huskies for that small margin which turned the tide their way. a.
