MARK BOARD OF EDUCATION CITY OF CHICAGO EMIL G. HIRSCH HIGH SCHOOL 7740 South Ingleside Avenue E A M CAHEY RC-ARET M 1-4ulNEv P' p I A P p I June l, l9L8 Dear Parents: Not too long ago, when your boys and girls were tiny toddlers, you watched them fondly, gave them unselfish love and care from a devoted heart, and spent endless hours dreaming of a good life for them... one in which they could use their talents to their own best welfare and fulfillment. You have been vigilant in your forethought and direc- tion, because you have always wanted them to be useful, contented people. A man secure in the dignity of work, home and friends .... a woman happy in her choice of life .... These are the goals most to be desiredg-- without them money and success are meaningless. Hirsch has taken your sons and daughters, given them the tools of education, and striven to help them always to pursue a course of action befitting their own integrity and sportsmanship. we shall both be amply repaid if our young people have achieved this understanding. ........ What more may we ask for them than they be happy, useful citizens in this fair land of ours! Sincerely, ,Wanna Q. 212.140 'F'-S5 Lf Q M e4 WN ll. OI LU 0I'l'l llle C QQFQ 0 ' ' Our team did exceptionally well this season. Although We lost our first practice game to Taft, We shut out Hyde Park, l3-0, in a game played mostly on the ground. Our first league game was lost to Bowen, but We rallied the next Week to win against Parker, 18-13. ln the Calumet game, Hirsch won, 13-6. Fenger, our next opponent, Won the decision in a rough but clean game. And although C.V.S. won by only one point, l3-l2, they forfeited to us because of an unqualified player. ln our last game, We came through with flying colors by outplay- ing Morgan Park, 27-O. Much of our good luck was due to Bill Hempel, who was voted the team's most valuable player. The main cog in our wheel of success, however, was our coach, Mr, B. O'Brien, under Whose skillful coaching the team finished third in the South Section. i. 5 . ini ...Q A r, 4. s gf X J ix x ' If 4 W' QQ, 'L w V LM .F Y -.. A..
