Spanish Christmas Is Party Theme The first activity of the newly organized Spanish Club was a Spanish Christmas party. The party was Mexican in tradition including the break- ing of a pinata. Fruit and candy poured out of the pinata when it was broken open. Mrs. Barbara Novak, Spanish teacher, organized the club. WHERE IS IP Ray Gatz gets first shot at breaking open the pinata at the Spanish club Christmas party.

BACK ROW: Sharon Fechner, Joanne Sapa, Joyce Robinson, Sharon McDaniel, Jane Harrison, Shirley Sokolowski. High Participation Sparks GAA Sports Tennis, volleyball, swimming, and bowling are a few of the sports that the Girls' Athletic Association spon- sors. Any girl interested in athletics may participate. Officers volunteered to run for their positions and were elected by members. Most of the freshman and sophomore girls are members of this group and par- ticipate in one of the sports. Class representatives are elected by their gym class. Miss Sylvia Matczak, physi- cal education teacher, sponsors all their activities. OVER MY HEAD--EllieSheehy, Miss Matczak, and Etta Pruett scramble for the ball in a GAA volleyball game.

BACK ROW: Coaches Paul Atkinson, Edward Puck, Charles Shrader, Bob Thomas, and equipment manager Ray Fisher. Football Team Has Winning First Year The Hornets of Hinsdale South carried the colors of black and gold through a victorious first season. Their record for the season was six wins and two losses. Most of their opponents were from the Mid-suburban League. The scores in the winning games were Prospect, 12-6, Maine West 14-6, Deerfield 27-6, Conant 27-0, Forest View 29-7, Wheeling 21-6. They lost to New Trier 7-18 and to Palatine 0-7. WATCH OUT! There ore many anxious moments for coaches as they watch from the sidelines. Coach Ed Puck (standing) seems a bit more disturbed than Coaches Chuck Shrader and Paul Atkinson.
