Publications Staffs Record First Year Work on the publications at Hinsdale South this first year was strictly on a voluntary basis, and maybe some of the staff members didn't realize how much time they had volunteered when they signed up! Early in the year staffs for the publications were selected and editors named by advisor, Mrs. Sandra Smith. The staffs then chose the names for the publica- tions. The yearbook was named The Vespa, which means hornet,'' the school nickname, and the news- paper was appropriately named, The Stinger. Yearbook editors Kay Beeks, Kay Baumann, Marge Fehling, and Jim Stratman attended a yearbook work- shop at the University of Illinois in October which got their work off to a good start. Sales reached 350 which was the goal of the staff. This represented about 84 percent of the student body. NOT ENOUGH COPY!-Mony times one of Fran Luchsinger's biggest problems os editor-irvchief of The Stinger was a few empty spots at the bottom of the page layout.
