Corny Contest Adds Life to Spring Daze February and March brought the first signs of spring, and anxious biologists in Mr. Leggett's classes began planting a crop of one seed of corn each. The biggest corn stalk grown won a prize of points on the biology grade. The contest developed much interest with stu- dents competing against Mr. Leggett's entry, Jolly Green Giant. The state swimming meet held at Hinsdale South brought crowds of people to the school. The swimming finals and candids from the school were featured on television. Parents visited school in March and attended classes for seven minute sessions (a little shorter than normal). Luckily for parents, no tardy reports were made.
