Basketball . . all kinds ol musical activities . . . student government . . . lormals . . . inlormals . . . hlling their days from initiation to graduation. 'l'he Class ol' '54 just four short years ago entered the halls ol' our newly cotnpleted high school building to become the lirst class to spend all its lour years here. School was strange not alone to them but also to the other members ol' the student body. XVith freshman initiation under way, conlusion was rile everywhere as everyone tried to adjust himsell' to new surroundings. Spirit, and cooperation brought a change in the second semester. In our line new gymnasium was played the l95l Regional Basketball ilournanient, and lor the lirst time in many years, our own Hinsdale basketball team went down! state to be part ol' the Sweet Sixteen. HT was getting its name spread lar and wide by the time these lreshmen ol' September, l95U, were sophomores. Our modern facilities, our excellent school program, ottr champion- ship Student Council, and all the personalities in our school were basking in the limelight. 111 the lall our lootball team reigned as the undefeated champions ol the XVest Suburban Conference. In November l95l our school was the scene ol' the convention ol' the Northeast-Northwest District ol' the Illinois .fXssociation ol Student Councils. Each year thereafter, Hinsdale has had at least one student holding a state ollice or district ol'hce in Student Council. ,Xs juniors, the Class ol '54 lonnd many improvements and additions to our school. The parking lot was re-vamped, tennis courts were constructed. and a bond issue was approved to make possible a large addition to the high school. Thousands ol' visitors were attracted to our gym to see the Harlem Globe- trotters in action. All ol' us were made proud ol' our music departments high ratings in the state contests. Visitors came l'rom several foreign lands and from all over the nation to see our Curriculum Revision program in action and our line school plant. 'I'hen came the all-important year, the year when every member ol' the class ol' 1954 came fully to understand the line ol' our Alma Mater: Our days in high school won't be long. H'1' will remember the Class ol '5-l just as they will re- member thcse lour years, l950Al951l, not only because they were the lirst class to complete lour years in our new building but. also because their spirit., abilities, and leadership have contributed much to our classrooms. our playing lields, and all our versatile activities.
