OUP Iffllfl, Cl,tQl Once more the doors are closing on a fun-packed, wonderful year of high school. For some this means going out into the world to view new horizons: to others it means one more year has passed and the day has come closer when the world beckons us to try to fulfill our pur- poses in life. For all of us, it marks the last year when we will go to classes and enjoy our activities in the old high school. Next fall the doors of the new Hinsdale Township High School will open at the new location, 55th Street. ln summing up our accomplishments. the 1949-50 Student Council project of Student Participation seems to be the most outstanding achievement. Through this program members of our school have been drawn more closely together and united into a working student body. No longer do the majority sit on the sidelines to watch while a few plan and execute the school activities. Through the uni- fying influences of sportmanship, school spirit, and student support and participa- tion, HTHS has developed great power. Through these forces we have made our- selves ready forthe life in the new school and for the future. N 3- . The lucky class of 1951 will be the first to graduate from the school. Nleanwhile everyone is closely watching the building grow by leaps and bounds. The low. modern brick structure is two stories high. The gymnasium. on which construction has just begun in the picture in the lower right hand corner of the page, will have one of the longest spans in the nation. The new school, upon completion, will be a show place ofthe state and a project which every single student of Hinsdale Town- ship High School will be proud to claim his own. hi 04' N 4 1, ' KZ Agp, n .-f 15' puny' -3 A bp.. The Red Devils played the usual twelve conference games with Maine, Glenbard, Downers, York. Riverside, and La Grange. The team played a large number of non-conference games with many tough teams. The hard-playing Devils made an excellent showing in all games. Starters for Hinsdale included such notables as Frank Roach, guard: lack Kaull, center: Ken Ruzich, guardp Ken Kavana and Paul Iohnson, forwardsg lim Kalicki, center, and lim Iohnson, guard. Iohn Blackman as center and Iohn DeVos. guard, did their share to help the team to victory. Members of the up-and- coming Iunior Varsity were Bill Hamilton, Dan Swan, Ansel Glendenning, Dick Miller. and Ronnie Rhoades. C. West be- lieves that a school should be composed of more than school work because often students develop their personalities through interesting activities. School participation is an excellent may to help a student develop his interests and to prepare him for adult living. Actix- ities should be chosen wisely with the individual in mind since through them the student learns true life values. HTHS has had many activities this year. and plans have been made for a stronger program in the future to enable every student to participate more in many phases of school life.
