Is richer than before. All rains that fell, all suns that shone. In this June ' s roses stay. The past is all the more our own When clustered with today. So beams our school-time here and now — Eden of book and scroll — The scholar ' s sunrise on the brow. His stirring in the soul. Again we part, but with us take The bygone ' s draught divine. For in our hearts afresh awake The Days of Auld Lang Syne. Today We Will Study By Peter Ryan Today we will study the fifth declension. Outside the declining sun flares and casts A red glow onto the blackboard. Now Class! On the trees the brown leaves shine like patterned glass. Now we will study mass in suspension. Outside the very world is suspended in ice, glass Glazed, caught in crystals, flash and flash pass. And all is streamed in light, And suspended mass Now we will study the spring and its tension. Outside the world is spring and green tension Breaks and splashes on the sun-cut grass. All life rushes out, see how fast . . . Everyone watch, and Peter, pay attention! Outside the unattended world slips past.
