WILLIAM MAHONEY: Hingham ' s Superintendenf of Qchoois TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1966 The publication of the 1966 Highway represents a lasting record of the achievements of the Senior Class, the faculty at Hingham High School, and the parents of our Senior Class members. It deals not only in your accomplishments of the past four years, but also offers an insight into our hopes for you, the 1966 graduates of Hingham High School. I join with other members of the school administration in extending my congratu- lations to you, and my best wishes for the future. WILLIAM M. MAHONEY Superintendent of Schools MR. IRMIN PIERCE Vice-Principal TO THE CLASS OF 1966 . . . Your class, as it puts together this record of its experiences in Hingham High School, is picturing Our Way of Life. You have gone through school as a group, working together demo- cratically to choose your officers, decide your policies, and accomp- lish your aims. You have also gone through school as individuals, each develop- ing his own aims and ambitions, seeking and finding help in the re- sources which the school offers to all and growing mentally by con- trast with other minds. I hope that you are now ready for the broader experiences in the years ahead. My best wish for you is that you will be good citizens, that you will cherish high ideals and that you will succeed in living up to them. MR. PAUL FARRI9 Principal TO THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 1966 . . . The Class of 1966 has made a fine begin- ning on the road to self-education and responsi- ble citizenship! As you make your way in this world of ours, perhaps you can find the key to the heart of mankind so that peace may be- come an integral part of our way of life. The inquiring mind, the integrity of character, the impartiality of honest experimentation, the re- spect due every man because he is a man: all of these can be helpful to you as you join in the quest to solve the one great problem confronting mankind — peace. fLjl +(. -T z- zA o Guidance Deparfment . . . it ' s about those C.E.B. scores . . . they should go up . . . what ' s your problem ? ? . . . sign up for scholarships over here . . . And from the chaos came a bandaged tackle and he was called Allen. Metzger, Hutchins, and Studley entered the flock and they were joined by Leary, Delaney, Stoddard and Fitz. From the ranks of the underlings came Losordo, Nickerson, Coughlin and Staehr. And soon there was a great multitude. At first they labored for six days and rested on the seventh. Shea and Allen breathed life and spirit into the group and they were united under one roof — they became a winning team. The team, dominated who ' wil by seniors, battled to a 9-3-1 record and a respectable third place finish in the South Shore Hockey League. They iltemat hustled, fought, and scrapped for every goal and every win. . They lost three games, but the complexion of one of those games could have been easily changed if Hingham He ne had just gotten the breaks . Although the successful season resulted from team work, several players received special recognition for their id- efforts. Captain Joel Brebbia, played a consistent high-scoring game from his left wing position. All-Star center )n, Steve O ' Reilly led the team in overall scoring and was fifth in the league standings. Right wing Baldo Lazzerini . topped the team in total goals. Steve Leary, who played defensive for the fijrst time this year, did well enough to be named to the All-Star team.
