FOOT After an outstanding Season in 1960, the 1961 football team had much to live up to. Despite injuries to several key personnel, the Harbormen broke even with a 4-4-1 record. Head Coach Walter Anderson along with Line Coach Buckley and Backfield Coach Vafidies worked hard with the boys to prepare for a difficult schedule. The team started the year off with a pre- season victory over Whitman-Hanson in the Jamboree. Following a tough defeat at the hands of an improved Danvers club, the Harbormen came back strong to win three straight and tie a fourth. During this first part of the season, quarterback Don Mclntyre. fullback Fran Coleman, tackle Ray Norton and guard Pbil Howlett all suf- fered injuries. The loss of these start- ers, plus a difficult second half schedule produced two more defeats before an impressive victory over North Quincy. In the Thanksgiving Day finale Hing- ham battled the wet, the cold, and a strong Newton South team, but could not come up with a win. Throughout the season several boys turned in con- sistently impressive performances, among them Jim MacAllen, Don De- Hart, Leroy Deabler. Doug Eaton and John Allen. At the close of the season the team elected John Allen captain of next year ' s team. 3fci zoJ FIRST ROW: M. Cronin, R. Calvi, R. Delaney, G. Piekarski, J. Gratia, J. Shutt, F. Wendt, J. Cronin, R.
