SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE A mighty and majestic tree is a symbol of comfort and security because it withstands both time and strife, and yet many consider a tree to be nature ' s most beautiful creation. True friendship in many ways is like this tree. Its seed must be planted in the fertile soil of understanding and watered regularly with consideration. If well cared for, a seedling friendship will grow tall and strong, providing great happiness for those who nurture it. ' gatttett To you, Principal Arnold Bartlett, we proudly dedicate our yearbook. Although this has been your first year at Hingham High School, you have already proved to be a sincere friend and a capable administrator of high school affairs. Your willingness to discuss any problems we may have has made you more than just a principal. Because we are honored to call you our friend and advisor, and because we appreciate all you have done for us, we dedicate to you our HIGHWAY. C UL- c t % 5 KL, tx ttott Oun, Sctfrenuttettdeett A message from our Superintendent: To each and everyone of you, I offer my best wishes for your success and happiness in the years ahead. Think often on these things: Take time for work — It is the price of success. Take time to think — It is the source of power. Take time to play — It is the secret of youth. Take time to read — It is the foundation of wisdom. Take time to be friendly — It is the road to happiness. Take time to dream — It is hitching your wagon to a star. Take time to love and be loved — It is the privilege of the gods. Take time to look around — It is too short a day to be selfish. Take time to laugh — It is music of the soul. — Author Unknown I. D. I have been asked a couple of strange questions: such as, Do you have .electricity? and Do you wear wooden shoes over there? — all of which show how little we actually know about each other. I have been happy to answer your questions and to learn from you about this wonderful country. But most of all I have to thank you for the wonderful time I had at Hingham High, for the many friends I made, and for your overwhelming cordiality. I had expected much of this year, but, thanks to you, it gave me more than I had ever hoped for. I hope that together we have contributed something to a better understanding between the nations and that you will always keep in memory these lines from the Psalms: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
