CLASS HISTORY In September of 1952, 145 students wandered into the high school, looking around and wondering just where they would go next. Before long. Miss Poole and Mr. Sam- uelson helped us to elect our frosh officers: President, Ed Lynch; Vice President, Jim Doyle; Secretary, Cynthia Stein- berg and Treasurer, Jerry Butler. From then on we were headed in the right direction. The freshmen who were selected to join the majorette squad were Lucanna Murphy, Grace Anderson, Sonia For- rest, Alice Kelley, Corinna DeMings and Jean Gould. In the spring of that year we had the athletic assembly, and four members of the freshman class received their letters. They were June Kress, Bean Fahnley, Jim Doyle and Ed Lynch. In June we went to Duxbury Beach for our class picnic. It was just the way to end the year with the water, the hot dogs and, of course, the sand sandwiches. It wasn ' t long before 1953 came rolling around the corner and there we were again, a little more sure of our- selves, but still the underclassmen. We got help that year from Mrs. Soper and Mr. Samuelson and elected as officers Don Pitcher, President; Edee Chase, Vice President; Joan Perkinson, Secretary and Bill Lincoln, Treasurer. Mr. Beynon came over from England to teach Geometry this year and we had a great time learning a British accent. We put on the traditional dance to welcome the fresh- men into the school (which was, by the way, quite a suc- cess). Then Christmas and Santa came rushing in so fast that everyone was hustling around in a frenzy but we sophomores fixed that! We got everyone relaxed at our fabulous Christmas Dance. In the spring the band and majorettes went to Washing- ton, D. C. to perform at the Cherry Blossom Festival. We were so proud of them. To end the year we again went to Duxbury Beach and had another great class picnic. In 1954 we were almost to the top! We felt pretty big that year as upperclassmen and also as the first juniors in the new school. Our class advisors were Miss Suzedell and Mr. Meleones and our class officers, in order, were Jim Doyle, Bean Fahnley, Jo Bray, and Ginny Crossen. Every- one in the school was guessing where to go next that year, not just the freshmen and sophomores, but juniors, seniors and teachers, too. That didn ' t slow us juniors down, though, cause we put on a football dance in the fall to congratu- late the team. Later on in the year the Harvard Book Award went to Donald Pitcher— Congratulations Don!
