Before long. Miss Poole and Mr. Sam- uelson helped us to elect our frosh officers: President, Ed Lynch; Vice President, Jim Doyle; Secretary, Cynthia Stein- berg and Treasurer, Jerry Butler. From then on we were headed in the right direction. The freshmen who were selected to join the majorette squad were Lucanna Murphy, Grace Anderson, Sonia For- rest, Alice Kelley, Corinna DeMings and Jean Gould. In the spring of that year we had the athletic assembly, and four members of the freshman class received their letters. They were June Kress, Bean Fahnley, Jim Doyle and Ed Lynch. In June we went to Duxbury Beach for our class picnic. It was just the way to end the year with the water, the hot dogs and, of course, the sand sandwiches. It wasn ' t long before 1953 came rolling around the corner and there we were again, a little more sure of our- selves, but still the underclassmen. We got help that year from Mrs. Soper and Mr. Samuelson and elected as officers Don Pitcher, President; Edee Chase, Vice President; Joan Perkinson, Secretary and Bill Lincoln, Treasurer. Mr. Beynon came over from England to teach Geometry this year and we had a great time learning a British accent. We put on the traditional dance to welcome the fresh- men into the school (which was, by the way, quite a suc- cess). Then Christmas and Santa came rushing in so fast that everyone was hustling around in a frenzy but we sophomores fixed that! We got everyone relaxed at our fabulous Christmas Dance. In the spring the band and majorettes went to Washing- ton, D. C. to perform at the Cherry Blossom Festival. We were so proud of them. To end the year we again went to Duxbury Beach and had another great class picnic. In 1954 we were almost to the top! We felt pretty big that year as upperclassmen and also as the first juniors in the new school. Our class advisors were Miss Suzedell and Mr. Meleones and our class officers, in order, were Jim Doyle, Bean Fahnley, Jo Bray, and Ginny Crossen. Every- one in the school was guessing where to go next that year, not just the freshmen and sophomores, but juniors, seniors and teachers, too. That didn ' t slow us juniors down, though, cause we put on a football dance in the fall to congratu- late the team. Later on in the year the Harvard Book Award went to Donald Pitcher— Congratulations Don! Then in the spring came the biggest dance of the year. Of course it was the Junior Prom! We were thrilled to think that at last it was our prom. Our Prom Queen, Roberta Rawson, was the prettiest ever and her attendants were Earlene Alien, Jo Bray, Corinna DeMings, Bean Fahnley. Marcia Hubbard, Linda Lincoln, Joan Perkinson, Dot Pres- ley, Carol Shannon, Sharon Taylor and Gail Torvi. Soon after that our class had another surprise coming- we had won first prize in the talent show. Our bank ac count benefited the m ost of all, for we really needed the money. Five politicians from our class were selected to go to Girls ' and ' Boys ' State in June. Congratulations to Sonia Forrest, Connie Harty, Phil Gahm, Bill Lincoln and Don Pitcher. In May and June we had a spirited campaign for Student Council Officers and Donald Pitcher became our President and Peter Hanson, Vice President. On the last day of school cars went rolling out of the parking lot and we spent one tremendous day down at Craigville Beach. In September of 1955, everyone came rushing back from the long wonderful summer. We finally made it, the bat- tle cry of the seniors, could be heard everywhere. This year was going to be the biggest and best of all. Jim Doyle and Ed Lynch captained our football team to a vic- torious season in which we lost only two games. We should congratulate the cheerleaders, Jo Bray, Captain, Ginny Cros- sen, Joan Perkinson, Dotty Presley, and Gail Torvi, for their part in sports throughout the year. Carol Orcutt and Bean Fahnley were co-captains of the field hockey team, which played good hockey and had a lot of fun even though it didn ' t win every game. In November, Jeff Read was elected by the whole school to serve as representative at Student Government Day. Mar- cia Hubbard received the D.A.R. good citizenship award. It couldn ' t have gone to a nicer girl. The students elected to go to the model Congress in Springfield were Jo Bray, Jeff Pickard, Bean Fahnley, Gerald Struss and Paul Payne. Those elected for the city-town exchange were Phil Gahm, Carol Orcutt, Dianne Kimball, Bev Rowlings and Jack Kroes- ser. On December 23rd, no one recognized our gym with its beautiful decorations, reindeer, sleigh, and Christmas trees. Yes, tonight was the Snow Ball, put on by our Senior class, and we all had lots of fun! We were really proud of our hockey team when, in Febru- ary, they were crowned Co-Champions of the league. Con- gratulations, boys! Our basketball team did well, too, get- ting as far as the consolations finals in the league! -By FRANNY HALL AND DIANNE KIMBALL FOUR- YEAR HONOR ROLL Alden Briggs Edith Chase Mary Dean Sonia Forrest Caria Greeley Frances Hall Marcia Hubbard Elaine Manning Penelope Perry Donald Pitcher Beverly Rowlings Carl Smith Susan Lane CLASS OFFICERS MAUREEN FAHNLEY JOAN PERKINSON JOSEPHINE BRAY JAMES DOYLE Vice President Treasurer Secretary President James Richard Eugene Doyle Our deeds determine us, as much as we determine our deeds.
