t3 o o n s ..-HleTYvesKv VUpM : m „G« C tfss History September 10. 1947 — z rt ? i 7. 1950 By Cindy Downer and Peg Connolly On the tenth day of September 1947. the his- tory of this illustrious class begins. We indeed envied the Senior ' s superiority but soon a few of our Frosh class acquired recognition to make the rest of us feel a little more human. Later in September we elected Alice Beale. Fran ' ' Dennis. Rosemary Bonanno. and Dick Binney to lead us through the year. Bunky Kehoe. Frank Barbuto. and Bill Yafides won the honor of being the only frosh to win varsity letters, while Eleanor Roose made the girls ' honors. As we look upon the assembly efforts of our class we remember the minstrel show before the student body. Among the highlights were the cracked voice of Jack ' Lombaro calling, or should we sav bellowing, for his beloved Chloe and Lester Lamm ' s inspiring I ! I recitation of The Charge of the Light Brigade. Sylvia Hurlock and Carol Peterson, just to men- tion two. kept our marks up to all As (includ- ing Latin i . Three more Frosh girls. ' Gert Gould. Irene Dunn and Cindy Downer, became famous as regu- lars on the twirling line. Most of us survived our Freshman year and in September of 1948 we returned as Sophisticated Sophomores to strut the hallowed halls of H.H.S. Manv Sophomore girls were admitted to the second field hockey team and Eleanor Roose and Bert Lafford held the softball team together. Yito Xardo made a name as an up-and-coming end on our football team. Other names becoming better known in the pigskin circle were Bob Da ' is. Bill Yafides. Bunky Kehoe and Bill Eaton Little Jimmy Papasodero won a reputation as a capable team manger. Doc Blanchon brought glory to the class as the only Sophomore to make the varsity basketball team. Frank Barbuto. Sally Chipman and Bill Yar- rell were the class officers during this year.

Of- As in the years past we returned to our future alma mater for another year in the continuous search of knowledge. This year we were Juniors and, be- lieve it or not, upperclassmen. We put on a Prom — one of the best in the history of any Junior class in the memory of H.H.S. Shirley Terry was crowned queen with Reg Con- nolly, Fran Dennis, Cindy Downer, Susie Ed- wards, Gert Gould, Pat Holt, Barbara Johnson, Joan Loney, Jane Palmer, and Mary Ellen Vigneau as her attendants. Bill Eaton led the grand march as our President, with Bunky Kehoe following as vice-president. Peg Connolly kept our notes straight and Carleen Madsen was the keeper of our finances. Charlotte Frost and Sylvia Hurlock made the varsity field hockey team while several others follow- ed close behind as second squaders. This year we heard two more names, Dick Powers and Payson Averill. mentioned in the foot- ball world. Guess what — we ' re SENIORS and what a wonderful feeling it is. We consider the Juniors human, the Sophomores are coming along, but as usual there ' s no hope for the Freshman! Our football team ably captained by Vito Nardo and Robert William Vafides. Esq., had a very successful season. Enfield, Connecticut, took Wey- mouth ' s place as our Turkey Day rival. Bob Davis and Bunky Kehoe captained this game and did a wonderful job as did the rest of the kids. In con- nection with football you ' ll remember we mentioned three Frosh girls who were twirlers, well, this year they are the Big Cheeses. Gert Gould is Head, Cindy Downer, Assistant, and Irene Dunn. Assis- tant to the Assistant. Another honor bestowed upon our great class came when Sylvia Hurlock was awarded the D.A.R. Good Citizenship award. Bill Taunton walked away with the election of the represe ntative to Good Government day to be held again this year. Blond and freckled Payson Averill keeps the Chief Executive ' s chair well dusted, assisted by Bunky Kehoe. Janie Palmer is our secretary and Jack Neville banks our $8.53. Its been a wonderful four years but about over now as we close this chapter in our book of life to start anew. Only Time can tell what the future holds. Best of luck to you and you and you.
