During the entire successful history of this traditional school organization, only once has the president been from the fairer six. This year Doroth) Avers again broke the record and has proven that the duties can be ably and efficiently performed by either sex. This school organization, under the supervision of Mrs. Henderson, receives our due respect and admiration for the splendid manner in which they govern the student body. There is one Home Room Manager and one assistant elected in each home room. It is their responsibility to collect the weekly dues from their room. This duty performed faithfully and accurately under the very capable direction of Miss Burditt entitles you to tree admission to basketball and football games played at home as well as school plays and concerts. Captain, and Dorothy Deering. Secretary, while William Handrahan. Leonard Bjorklund. and Avis Hunt served as commissioners. The purpose of the Board of Marshals is to supervise traffic within the school and to keep the cafeteria in order. An innovation this year was the formation of a group of assistant marshals composed of sophomores to assume charge of the cafeteria during second lunch period. Meetings of this group were held once a week. Another responsibility of the boys on the Board of Marshals is to erve as Police Officers during Air Raid Alerts. The Captain and Members want to express thanks and appreciation for the splendid co-operation of the student body. A new warrant system was instituted this year, but only 115 war rants were issued. Mr. Higgins is the faculty advisor of the Board of Marshals. Page Fifty-Four Hinghain High School Each executive hoard consists of the officers of the class, two representatives from each homeroom of that class, and the faculty advisor. The purpose of these groups is to eliminate all confusion and waste of time that is inevitable with class meetings. Although it is a comparatively new organization, it has proven to be essential in a smooth and democratic rule of the student government. Senior (bxecuttve {Hoard Standing (left to right) β€” B. (Junior Uxed Cross This organization has been very active this year for their services are being re- quired more than ever. Last fall, they financed the sending of Christmas boxes to England and have received most gratifying letters from the happy recipients. 1 lie selling of pencils at the football games enabled them to send a large sum of money to the National Children ' s Fund. At Christmas time they sent menu cards and candy to the veterans at the hospi- tals. They are now busily engaged in promoting a Victory Book Campaign and are sponsoring a Surgical Dressings class at the school. The American Red Cross has long been famous for its peacetime as well as war- time services to all our races, nationalities, and creeds. We are especially proud of the work that our junior division has accomplished in the service of humanity. Page Fifty -Eight Back row (left to right) β€” .7. Delorey, G. Richardson, IV. Bartlett, J. Rah! We present to you the cheerleaders of Hingham High School whose aim is to bring out and also add to the spirit of the student body. These vivacious students have indeed helped the morale of the teams and made our rallies peppier than ever before. They cheered at the football and basketball games and this year as a reward for their hard work, the will receive let- ters. Much of their success is owed to their coach, Mr. Webb, who with untiring effort practiced with the group and presented new ideas to them. Praise also uoe to the sophomores who practiced with the group and filled in for others in emergencies. A new song by Avis Hunt entitled Hingham Hi h School and written to the popular tune of On Wisconsin was adopted b the students as their school song.
