The Majority ' s Definition: Good students who do a grand job koeping law and order. The Marshals are on duty all day, posted over the building to direct traffic, keep order, and help any students in distress. They also make up the Auxiliary Police Squad. During air raid drills, stationed at their posts, they direct the students to shelters. When all have reached safety, the Marshals check each room to be sure that none has been left behind. This being done, they go to the shelters to keep order and to calm panic. With Mr. Scott as faculty advisor, this organization does a wonderful job, both in maintaining order and in directing drills. JUNIOR RED CROSS Once again the Junior Red Cross has been called upon to help provide sweaters for war refugees. The girls responded enthusiastically and did a fine job on the large number of sweaters they turned in. Another service has b3en the collection of cancelled stamps which are used m making artificial limbs for wounded service- men. The American Red Cross has long been famous for its humanitarian service to all races, nationalities, and creeds and we are proud of the small bit that our junior division of this great organization is doing in the service of humanity. The records fail to reflect the indomitable spirit of the boys who never quit fighting. For a fine job of piloting and keeping up the spirit in tough spots, we tip our hats to Captain Harry Vafides who is content to let the other boys do most of the talking. There is no need to point out other stars because, rather than having a few outstanding players, our team was a well knit unit of good all around ability. With two victories and a moral victory over Rockland as against five defeats, we find ourselves looking forward to a better season next year. Sixty Hingham High School Last Row (1. to r.): E. Although there were only two veterans in the group, with the aid of Captain Dunphy, Coach Fieger developed a peppy team which came through with a large percentage of victories. They also entertained the students at most of the assemblies in the auditorium, and occasionally favored us with a selection or two as part of the program. They now have a varied and exceedingly well played repertoire, which consists of marches, waltzes, and many of the well-known lighter classics. GLEE CLUB The Glee Club, besides entertaining the school at many of the assemblies this year, has appeared in public and been well received by The Massachusetts Schoolmaster ' s Club, the Scituate High School, the Parent-Teacher ' s Association, and at the Massachusetts Drama Festival. As in past years, the Glee Club studied an oratorio. This year The Holy City by A. R. Gaul was chosen and parts of it have been presented at school from time to time. Good music, well presented might appropriately be adopted as the motto of this organization. Seven tv-t vo Hingham High School Back Row (1. to r.): H. Wright, F. Jacobs, L. Tweedy, C. Ward, W. ACTIVE MEMBERS ON THE DRAMATIC CLUB This year a new organization introduced to our school was welcomed cordially by the students. Under the capable supervision of Mr. Spink, the Hingham High School Dramatic Club has successfully produced the school play The Barretts , three one-act plays, namely: The Ugly Duckling, The Lord ' s Prayer, The Trysting Place, and one assembly. The most highly graded of the one-act plays, The Lord ' s Prayer, was entered in the Massachusetts Drama Festival at Emerson College on April 11, 1942. Having achieved such popularity in its first year we feel sure that this club will continue to stage successful performances in the future.
