The New School Everyone inthe high school has watched the building of the new school with interest. Many of the students, after seeing the inside of it when the yearbook pictures were taken, expressed the wish that the high school might move into it, instead of the lower grades, Things will change at the old school when the grades move out. The four upper-classes will be moved downstairs. A bigger office will be downstairs, also At last, chemistry and typing classes will have separate rooms. The teachers' room will be made larger, and the removal of the partition between rooms Z and 3 is planned in order to form a single large room. Class History DONALD SMITH Donald has been a very studious person during his four years in Hinesburg High School. He likes such subjects as advanced algebra and chemistry. People were surprised to see him in the class play because' it was so different from his usual seriousness. HOWARD RIGGS Howard has been very active in sports and also as a leader in class activities. He plans to go to college and probably will if Someoneilf Doesn't Change his mind. BETTY CARTER Betty is one of the more quiet girls in the fSenior class. She is also a very good worker. We believe she will make a good secretary if she has a boss who is willing to do the talking for two, WILMA HATHAWAY During Wilma's stay at Hinesburg she has always been very quiet. Wilma attends dances very regularly. ln fact she is one of the most regular attendants in our class. JOYCE CLARK .Toyce is about the tallest in our class and is also very friendly and quiet. She has always been willing to work cooperatively on any and all class projects. CONRAD BALLARD Conrad has been very active in sports. He gets along well with . the class because of his friendly personality even if he does have a quick temper, He is the happy-go-lucky Senior. ERNEST MILLHAM Ernest has been very active in sports here at Hinesburg high school He has outstanding abilities in mathematics and commercial courses. Although in some of those commercial courses he just couldn't seem to keep quiet long enough to stay in class very' long at a time. NANCY LARAMEE Nancy has been very active as a basketball manager the last two years. She has proved very expert and efficient caring for oranges and chewing gum.. Nancy is a good sort even if she is kind of touchy sometimes. IOANNE LARAMEE Joanne has been very active in sports while in school. She is quiet and a very good worker--willing to help out and do her best at all times. WILLIAM BEAN Bill has been active in baseball. He is well liked by everyone and gets along well with the class. Bill is quite often seen going between Hinesburg and Charlotte in a Dodge convertible. Everyone thought that Bill was a quiet fellow until they saw a certain picture in the paper--now they are not so sure. ' BETTE PEET Bette is one of our more quiet Seniors, around school that is. She is easy to get along with, and is always willing to help in class activities. Once in a while she is seen flying low over Hinesburg and St. George in her father's jeep. NORMA JEAN LYMAN Norma has been very studious in school: she has a lot of executive ability. She could be a very successful secretary, She also has been very active in sports. She is expecially fond of baseball pitchers. NEWTON FRANCIS - Newton has been very active in school. He has many abilities such as knowing how to get out of trouble. He is also a very good dancer. He is a very good talker, too: either in or out of class, whether to girls or to boys. ,Lg YEL ,L 14 Hit Parade Mrs. Vosburgh. ..... ... Chewing Bubble-Gum Mr. Meegan: ....... ........ The team, which was coached by Mr. Meegan, won five out of nine games. The team defeated Richmond, Jericho, Bristol, Shelburne, and New Haven while losing to Essex Junction twice and Richmond and Jericho once. The members of theuteam were: Catcher, Bobby Plante: First Baseman and Pitcher, Howard Riggs and Toby Parent: Second Baseman, Ernest Millhamg Shortstop, Pat Palmer: Third Baseman, Dennis O'Brien: Left Field, Conrad Ballard: Right Field, Keith Stokes: Center Field, Bill Bean or Paul Casey. We defeated Weeks School, Jericho, and Shelburne for three league wins good enough for fourth place in the Champlain Valley League. The team had no one outstanding player or high-scorer. On the first team during the year were Bobby Plante, Bobby Francis, ,Toby Parent, Conrad Ballard, Ernest Millham, Pat Pal er, John Pierce and Howard Riggs. Other players were Leroy Smliih, Paul Traux, Tommy Shea, Paul Emmons, Sidney Pierce, Stanley Bissonette, and Richard Mitchell. The fact that three Senior boys will not be back next year does not darken the hopes for next year because the seventh and eighth team finished first in their league. The boys selected Howard Riggs and Toby Parent as Co-Captains. Thomas Palmer was Manager and Richard Aube was Assistant Manager. Baseball 1951-52 FIRST ROW: Wayne Palmer, Conrad Ballard, Ernest Millham, Howard Riggs, Dennis O'Brien, Keith Stokes, Paul Casey. 'T L- Girls' Basketball The girls' basketball team did not have a successful season, but they did have good team spirit. There were two Senior girls on the first team, no Juniors, one Sophomore, two Freshmen, and one eighth grader. Among the substitutes are two Juniors who started to play this past year. Due to the fact that the team is losing only two members and the others on the team are nearly all Freshmen and Sophomores, they should have more successful seasons in the future. The team did have a high scoring forward, Norma Lyman whose 284 points scored are a higher total scored than in any recent year. The starting team included: Corrine Aube, Forward: Joanne Laramee, Guard-Co-Captaing Norma Lynian, Forward-Co-Captaing Ellen Millham, Guard: Loa .Tane Palmer, Guard: Stella Place, Forward. Nancy Laramee was Manager of the girls' basketball team and Carol Eddy was Assistant 'Manager-. The substitutes were: Glenna Downs, Patricia Downs, Shirley Fonda, Beverly Irish, Katherine Martin, Pauline Plante, and Nancy Tracy. Soccer This was the first year that Hinesburg High School has played Soccer, therefore the team had a rather short schedule. Of the three games played one resulted in a tie with Shelburne, the others in losses to Essex Junction and to Bristol. Very few of the players were Seniors so the team should be greatly improved next year. The squad consisted of: Charles Bissonette, Stanley Bissonette, Wayne Bissonette, David Butler, Clyde Carpenter, Robert Duell, Newton Francis, Michael Hart, Ronald Machia, Harry Martin, Ernest Millham, Dennis O'Brien, Thomas Parent, Giles Place, Larry Shea, Donald Smith and LeRoy Smith. Senior Play On November 20, the class of '52 presented a three-act comedy, West End High . The setting of the entire play is a study hall of West End High School located in a small American city. The story gives the problems of a class of high-school Seniors. Clyde Harkins is a boy of intelligence and ideals from the wrong side of town . Sally Summers, the school belle, is attracted to Clyde, thereby bring- ing down on him the enmity of Stu Arnold, a member of the most influential family in town. The main theme concerns a conflict between Stu and Clyde and its surprising climax. There were also many sidelights such as the romance between Mr, Torrance and Miss Fair, teachers: the humorous affairs of Fish Pond and Puss Millikan, two Seniors. It was a very interesting comedy with much confusion and laughter. The cast of characters are as follows: Clyde I-larkins, a student .............. .... The Freshmen came to school dressed funny as usual. They were dressed as follows: Girls wore long underwear, old shirts, silk stockings, high-heeled shoes, a cow bell tied around their waist, and their hair was braided in three pig tails.
