He is a gentleman who has not only been employed here for more than two decades. but has given many the base for a very profitable career in the music field. His character has made him well-known and respected by individuals throughout the United States. He instills in his pupils the will to accept nothing less than perfection in their performances. Throughout his teaching career, he has touched many lives and steered many individuals in the right direction. He and his marching bands have participated in parades galore while his concert and swing bands have titillated audiences for years. He has great rapport with his students and is genuinely concerned about all with whom he has contact. For these reasons and many more, the Hindsonian proudly salutes MR. LOUIS EDWARD LEON LEE, a man among men. As fate has it, you always look back on the past and reminisce from time to time. How well you remember You people move on out of the halls now , Hand in your assign- ment , Gimme your fries g HAIASA-the Number One Chapter g Who is that talking about beating those Bulldogs? g I have an appointment to see the nurse , Hey! Bo DidIey! g Please disregard the bell , Tweet! from Mr. Lee's whistle. You can see yourself sitting next to your best friend in your favorite teacher's classroom, pondering what the next assignment will be, knowing that whatever it is, it will be meaningful and you will get it done. How well you remember those routine encounters-fried chicken on Wednesdays, JROTC cadets in uniform on Thursdays, drill teams practicing in the streets, drummers practicing at the second period, class meetings, club meetings, assemblies, social activities, lunch period, daily class work, concerned teachers and staff members, chatting with friends, making new friends, and making impressions on students, faculty, and friends. Even though your encounters seem trivial and your accomplishments few, you get joy and pride from hearing others say YOU DID IT! CLI AX W I l l l l l l l A . x This was a year to remember. Our main hall received a face-lift which added new life to it. The principal hired a new secretary. Tyrone Allen and Romunda Battle were crowned Mr. and Miss Hinds '83-'84. Imelda Watson served as student body president, while Lisa Gilmore served as vice-president. Diane Wilson was elected miss JROTC. The JROTC and AIASA again sponsored drives for donations for numerous needy families. Mr. J. Louis Stokes resumed his position as Ass't. Superintendent of Hinds AHS. Mrs. Catherine Knight returned to the classroom as the mother of two identical twin daughters. The football team finished the season with championship status. Fund-raising projects were undertaken by numerous clubs to obtain monies to fund their proposed projects. These and many other occur- rences remind us of what we did, why we did it, how we did it and what fun we had doing it. 80 Q N Inav if EEPI av 9 . . fs L l 2 .l '77 Janice Singleton Jackie Wright Great Pals wa. A friend is the best thing that can ever be had. Lisa Gilmore Cherly Gilmore Sisterly Love Life can be lived best when it can be shared with someone. No feeling is better than the feeling of knowing you have someone with whom to share your most intimate secrets. It is good knowing that there is someone laugh- ing when you laugh, and someone hurting when you hurt. No price can be placed on the value of friendship. EDITGR' MESSAGE Whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing wellf' With that conviction in mind, I, along with my staff, set out tc produce what we think is an affectionate object of our most cherished and illustrious moments of this academic term: Z The 1984 HINDSONIAN. I must admit that it has been my most distinct pleasure to render my services as the Editor-in in-Chief of this highly held publication for a consecutive school term. It was our foremost effort to capture moments that l r would appeal to those of the faculty as well as the student body. This journal is actually a collection of illustrations of them- major moments and events which took place during this school year. We felt it our duty to convert them to paper for your enjoyment. The realization of exactly how much time and work is put into such a project is usually not recognized by thee ,l I recipients of it. We wish to relate the fact that it is in order that your appreciation may be heightened. We feel that ourlqj dedication is quite evident by our accomplishments. On behalf of the staff and me, I extend most appreciative thanks to Mr. Robert Anderson, our consistent photogra- pher, who made a great percentage of our work possible. In addition, a special thanks to Mrs. Willie Wilcher, ourxn yearbook advisor, along with my most competent staff and others who contributed valuable service. I, personally, wouldi like to thank those who made it possible for me to serve in the capacity of editor. It was an enjoyable experience.
