THE HINDSONIAN EXPERIENCE The moment we all stepped off that bus on the morning of August 19, the hindsonian experience began. It was an experience well worth reserving in the bound pages of this nineteen eighty-one Hindsonian. With temperatures lingering in the 90's and 'l00's, we began the year with great enthusiasm, knowing that every aspect of our school life was going to be a challenging experience. And so, it was. Our experiences were unique and unlike any we have encountered. The year began with a continuation of preparations for our school's evaluation. This, we looked forward to with high hopes. When finally the committee came, every segment in the operation of this great institution was appraised and given good and excellent ratings. We were proud. Across the year, in academics we experienced the challenges of being prepared to lead fruitful lives in this highly technological society. There was the addition of a physics course into which many students flocked. Many students took advantage of the newly instituted Upward Bound Program at Utica junior College and found it most rewarding. It was easy to boast that being located in the proximity of a junior college was part of what made the hindsonian experience unique. Seniors who lacked less than three units to graduate were permitted to take college courses, while at the same time completing required high school units for graduation. In athletics there were great accomplishments. Those which we will forever cherish. Though there was disenchantment which came during the latter part of the football season, we never thought of ourselves as underdogs. Our team, championship-bound, had its hopes destroyed when a dispute surfaced within the athletic association. The girl's softball team was a first in the athletic department this year. The team played many games on and off campus. It was a struggle to build a great team. The basketball, baseball and tennis teams labored well, though affected by the scars of the football team. Our experience would not have been complete without the dedication of our faculty, staff and administration. They, too, were a part.
