The play, written as a sequel to Remarque's famous ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, dealt with a woman, Anna, who lived in a half bombed-out apartment building in Berlin during the closing moments of the Second World War. The Hinckley version included a new departure in staging by setting the stage and the actor? in the audience rather than in front of it. The idea was to give the audience the feeling of involvment with the actors in the life and death situations presented on the stage. The performance was among the most popular ever presented both to the students and the general public. FILL OlflOLE GNSINKAGLE MOLLY GROWN The stage uas set; the lights lowered; the orchestra had begun; and Hinckley uas pre- sented with a musical comedy the likes of which it had never seen before! Many months of rehearsal, practice and organization con- tributed to the production which included the talents of over fifty of the high school and junior high students. The highlight of the show uas the reception it recieved by all audiences. The play dealt with an illiterate pros- pector and his eccentric wife, Molly Brown. Having accidentally struck it rich in a sil- ver claim, the two erstwhile millionaires de- cide to break into high society. The results are catastrophic and hilarious. Molly, played by Corrilla Smith, discovers that money is not everything, while Johnny, played by Ually Guptill, discovers what he always knew, that love is more important and powerful than all things combined. The musical numbers of the play were per- formed by an orchestra composed of students and sung by various student actors and actresses. The over four-hundred people pre- sent at the nighttime performance attest to the quality and the popularity of this all student production.
