Margie Scanlan, the scorned daughter-in-law, succeeded in reviving the hopes of the family, This was the gist of the domestic comedy, Shirt Sleeves , presented by the Senior Class on October 22 and 23. MEMBERS PLAN FOR THE FUTURE A farm boy used to consider himself lucky if, when he got out of high school, he had a Model A Ford and a lot of ambition to set himself up in the farming business, But under the F, F, A. program, the boy can have his Model A, his ambition, and a good start on a herd of purebred animals to begin farming operations. This program is under the supervision of Mr. Leslie Saddoris, instructor of Vocational Agriculture at Hinckley High School, The following boys have started purebred herds: John Davis and Dallas Waldschmidt, purebred swineg Philip Nelson, purebred angus stock, Allan Wielert and Ronald Reingardt, purebred dairy herds. The rest of the group have projects of good quality livestock. The chapter as a group and various ihdividual members were busy attending meetings during 1953 as the following dates indicate: April 29 -- Fat Stock judging contest at Engle Farms, Hampshire, Illinois. May 14 -- Dairy judging contest at Curtis Candy Farms, Cary, Illinois, June 10 -- State judging contest, Champaign, Illinois, July 11 -- Ronald Reingardt exhibited his Holstein Heifer at the St, Charles Black and White Show, August '7 -- Dallas Waldschmidt and Allan Wielert exhibited their projects at the Elgin Fair. August 9,10 ,1 1 -- Section '7 F. F. A. Fair was held at Sandwich, Illinois at which the chaper was well represented, August 25 -- Dallas Waldschmidt exhibited his project at the Barrow show in Chicago. September 8 to 12 -- Chapter attended Sandwich Junior Fair, October 14 -- The boys and some of the fathers took a trip to the International Dairy Show at Chicago. October 20 -- F. F. A, land-judging team participated in a contest at Kirkland. December 2 -- The Chapter members and a few of the fathers attended the International Livestock Show in Chicago. December 12 -- The poultry-judging team participated in a contest at Rochelle. 31

FIRST IN TIME AND QUALITY More competition by the minute--several boys and girls try out in the first round--some come back again for a second attempt--the eight who slide through know their notes. They appeared in public everytime there was a request for their sing- ing which was quite often. Among their many appearances this year were between acts at all the plays, at the Christmas Tea, the Pure MilkAs- sociation dinner, at St. Paul's Luncheon and Style Show, and at Commence- ment.
