Ronald Reingardt Vice President The members of the class obtained Junior classification with a total of eleven credits. Nancy Fouts moved into the Presidency on class election day. Ronald Reingardt took over the functions of the Vice Presidency while Sandra Palmatier promised to keep the minutes and Charlotte Mullis the money. Miss Barrett was appointed to smooth the troubled waters. On Cctober 8, the first event of the year tookplace--the choosing of the class rings. These rings were received on December 2.4, and considered one of the nicest Christmas presents by the students. Most of the activities and talents of the class were di- rected toward the class play and the promg however, this did not prevent the members from participating in other extra- curricular activities including, baseball, basketball, track, and clubs. Several of the members took active part in both the instrumental and vocal organizations, with four of its members being in Boy's Octette and two in Girl's Octette. Juniors, indeed, but worthy of the name. 26

May I have this dance?' is what one might have heard Toby Watne ask Linda Wahlgren in the one-act play given by the Speech Class at Christmas time, Margery Whisler, Robert Anderson, and Shirley Pennington seem to be enjoying the dance, too, This course in Algebra has been designed to give training in mathematics as a part of general educa- tion. It is of definite value to the student who wishes to continue further work in mathematics, Left to right -- Jeryl Morsch, Becky Freundt, Gerald Zeiter, David Engel, Learningto play an instrument at Hinckley High School lays the foundation for a critical appreciation and enjoyment of music. Mr, Wight is directing Irene Barr, Bette Richards, Clare Wilson, Robert Dwyer, Ronald Reingardt, and Donald Rimsnider. The ten best-dressed women for 1953 have been chosen, but these girls, Margery Whisler, Linda Biehl, and Linda Palmatier,under the dir- ection of Mrs, Charlesworth, are making plans as to who will be the best-dressed in 1963,

SOPHOMORES RETURN FOR SECOND YEAR The Sophomore class entered the school year with seven- teen members. Jerry Larson, the band's capable bass drurn- mer, led the class as president. Robert Dwyer, a member of the varsity basketball squad and the boy's octette, was elected Vice President with Nancy Thomas, Secretary, and Becky Freundt, Treasurer. Mr. Leslie Saddoris was class advisor. On October 2, they went social as agroup--sponsored the first all-school mixer by entertaining and initiating the Freshmen. Though underclassmen they proved their mettle by par- ticipating in numerous extra-curricular activities. Several of the group went out for baseball, basketball, and track, and at the same time maintained membership in clubs and other organizations. Eleven of the class participated in the Dis- trict Solo and Ensemble contest in Geneva. As a class they feel they have had a very pleasant and profitable year, nevertheless, they are eager to take the next step when they shall be considered upper-classmen.
