Dill Ulf MIIMIE TS DYll With every passing day another segment is added to the history of Hilltop High School, and all of the students who are encompassed by its activities are the authors. In the chapter entitled 1964 there are three divisions: fly the events that are classified as IDOL MO- MENTS, C27 those IDLE MOMENTS, and C35 those classified as IDYLL MOMENTS. Because this account of the passage of the year is written by students, most of the anecdotes concern them, but the stabilizing effect of the presence of the administration can always be felt. Even stuffy writers recognize the presence of IDOLS and the MOMENTS when these people bask in their good fortune. The Homecoming Queen and her court are certainly to be counted among the most widely honored of all IDOLS produced by Hilltop. Other ones that cannot be forgotten are the J.V. Cheerleaders and their frolicking attitude that adds to the spirit present at all J.V. games. Waiting patiently for the end sheet picture of the annual to be taken, the band, Lancerettes and specialty groups listen for directions from their IDOLS, the band director and Lancerette captain. IDLE MOMENTS, necessary after term papers, critical essays, and debates were due, were often spent at the sports events in which Hill- top's teams participated. Members of the teams were able to enjoy moments of relaxa- tion, especially when something other than the action on the field momentarily caught their eye. Included within the many IDYLL MOMENTS cited by HiIltop's historians, the traditionally outstanding half-times presented by Hilltop's marching units are among the most important. Offered as a review, or resume', of the IDOL, IDLE, and IDYLL MOMENTS contained in Hill- top's history, l964, the authors wish to as- sure everyone that these are only a few of the innumerable moments.

This spirit that can't be extinguished is what keeps the name Lancers smudge-free. Hill- toppers can stand up proudly when answering the question, What school are you from? The intelligence, con- trol, and fun that the students exemp- Iify is reflected in their IDOL, IDLE, and IDYLL MOMENTS. Kid stuff is never allowed to ruin the activities, rather, they are supported by those who understand that the greatest enjoyment comes from that which is motivated by mature, sophisti- cated people. This mature attitude is recognized in their choice of IDOLS and the MOMENTS in which they choose to pay homage to those placed on the pedestals of public acclaim. Even the success and continuance of the IDYLL MOMENTS, those centered around tradition, are attributed to the dignity of manner that is possessed by the students who are thoughtful enough not to restrict or spoil the chances for student activities in the future. Because of these characteristics ex- pressed by Lancers, IDOL, IDLE, and IDYLL MOMENTS will be remembered with pleasure for many years. ...Ei
