I accept with pleasure an opportunity to congratulate the hard-working team of students and advisers who have produced this 1968 edition of the HILLSIDE HORNET. Each year new designs, ideas, and personnel have gained the respect and admiration of the yearbook subscribers. Your edition is no exception. It is with mixed emotions that I say farewell to the class of '68. Iam some- what saddened, for your presence will be missed after your graduation; I am pleased for you are eager to tackle new experiences; I am proud, for your suc- cess means another milestone for the Hillside Family; I am apprehensive for your future holds many challenges and untapped resources. I trust that in all of your pursuits you will never forget that every man, by virtue of his humanity, has dignity and value. Each of you can become what you aspire to be. Great was the wisdom of Henry Ward Beecher who counselled, Victories that are easy are cheap. Those only are worth having which come as the result of hard fighting. There is a great life ahead for you. Go--live it! Sincerely yours, Sy ‘ (| ‘ L Ai nea la Der Lr Frances W. Schooler, Adviser of Girls

It is a significant privilege to pen a short statement to the HILLSIDE CLASS of 1968. The previous editions and the current edition of the Hillside Yearbook, (HORNET), are commendable publications. Hence, I congratulate the FACULTY ADVISERS, YEARBOOK STAFF, and the Class of 1968 for these unique publi- cations. You, the members of the Class of 1968, will soon embark on a most pleasant journey. This journey, commencement, is the beginning of your young lives you are charged to make faith, courage, brotherhood, dignity, responsibility, and devotion to God ingredients in your life after Hillside. Moreover, it is fer- vently hoped that your Alma Mater, Hillside High School, has been a citadel of learning for each of you, and that through its officials, teachers, other school personnel, and students you are equipped with the learning experiences needed by modern American youth to face local, state, American and international problems. Finally, then, my most sincere congratulations are extended to you, your parents, guardians, and friends. May God's manifold blessings abound with you and your families now and in the future years. F. Howard Alston Assistant Principal Boys' Adviser
