BEWITCHED AND BEWILDERED FRESHMAN CLASS Cautiously I inched my way through the long, crowded halls, though dreadfully afraid that some upper-classmen would stop me. Suddenly 1 quickened my pace, remembering that if I were late to class, 1 would be kept after school. Bewildered and frightened, 1 scurried from room to room searching for a familiar face to help me find my bearing. My only consolation was that I was not alone; many other freshmen were also experiencing the same difficulties. Weeks passed and I found myself in the same crowded corridor looking into the same faces which had so frightened me before. By this time, however, I was well acquainted with my new surroundings and not in the least bewildered or panicky. The mystery of locating classes had vanished, and I had now adjusted to the shorter lunch periods and more homework. Contrary to my first impression, I found that I actually enjoyed high school. This experience was but another progression in my growth and development. Pace 26
