Thus, since its beginning in l93l, the National Honor Society has sought growth, not in numbers, but in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Seeking to create an enthusiasm tor scholarship, some N.H.S. members tutor other pupils. To stimulate a desire to render service, other society associates offer aid to the school library. To promote worthy leadership, and to en- courage the development ot character, N.H.S. partici- pants are active in the extra-curricular program ot Hillside High School. Members also compile the lists tor honor roll publications. Capable leaders tor i958-59 are: Michael Tropp, presi- dent, Robert Hodavance, vice-president, Howard Karen- stein, vice-president, Stella Tyiewslci, secretary, Eve New- man, treasurer. Mrs. Annamae Rudolph has inspired NHS members tor the past tive years.
