Jlllilli ha intl 6 Q ,As Mariorie Strebinger, Gladys Johnson, Margaret Ackerman, Florence Li Puma, Walter Howell. YESTERDAY our schools helped 135,000,000 people find themselves and their destinies in a world Cone flict, today these schools are helping to forge a mighty people and their vast resources into a peaceful-loving world. The great struggle has ended but the peace is yet to be won. What kind of a peace is future America going to have? This question will be answered largely by the youth of our country. During the past twelve years your educational training has helped prepare you to play a noble part in developing the peace. The development and maintaining the peace will be only a part of your responsibilities. Our entire govern- mental, economical, and social structure of society will depend on you to help maintain the American Way of Life. It is the responsibility of each student to con- tribute to the structure of society those things which he is most capable, whether they require physical or mental activity. lf this is done our society will continue to make progress and our democratic form of govern- ment will continue to survive. lt is with regret that we say farewell to you. That regret, however, is tempered with pride in the spirit with which you go forth to face the future world. Our hope for a much better world is in your hands. DR. WAYNE T. BRANOM Supervising Principal DR. WAYNE T. BRANOM MR. RUHL CUSTER Supervising Principal Principal TO THE GRADUATING CLASS DURING the past few years we have been made con- scious that there exists vast wells of American vigor, ingenuity and imagination, the depths of which have not been sounded. lt has taken a world crisis to silence the critics' who voiced pessimistic predictions 'for the Children of the Depression . American youth, boys and girls, re- sponded gloriously in the hour of peril, Their ideas, labors, and sacrifices contributed immeasurably to the successful conclusion of the struggle against aggression, greed, and intolerance. A greater challenge still remains. Never before in history was there greater need for intelligent and cour- ageous leadership. Men and women of character, high principles, and moral integrity must build the better world of the future. With all the aids to encourage human achievement at its disposal, youth must and will pursue a policy of purposeful action. Work! Study! and Think! Your ideas and labors are not only wanted but will be needed more than ever as you go forward to new and greater horizons. MR. CUSTER Principal
