Class of l937 UR journey began with the election of class officers: Gladys Hill as president, John Anderson as vice-president, Walter Nuse, secretary, and Louis Tisch, treasurer. Life was made more vivid by boys' and girls' basketball teams, participating in the sport and competing with other classes. ln the Sophomore year, Louis Tisch was elected president, Adelaide Heath, vice-president, and Doris Brengel, secretary. The thrill of the year was the Sophomore Dance. Our Junior year saw us forging ahead, with Gladys Hill again as presi- dent, with Louis Tisch,.vice-president, and Janet Perrine, secretary. ln this year we had numerous social events, beginning with our Junior Dance. The Junior Prom was a clever affair we all remember with pride. It took the form of a nautical dance. The gymnasium was decked with flags, anchors, ropes, and all the appearances of a voyage. Did we say deckorated ? The S. S. Junior Prom was a great success. The Junior-Senior Prom, for the departing seniors, was a gay affair, much enjoyed. Our grand and glorious Senior year saw Louis Tisch at the helm, Thomas Greengrove as vice-president, and Janet Perrine as secretary. At our Hallowe'en dance we pursued ghosts and witches' among the cornstalk decorations. 'We were ever a brave class! But we had, nevertheless, a Coward play as our Senior dramatic effort. l'll Leave lt To You, a clever modern play by Noel Coward, was ably coached by Mrs. Maull and Mr. Steen- grafe. J L J ln the athletic world, the senior girls beat the women faculty, but the boys were downed by the faculty men, both contests .being hotly fought at basketball games. 1 ' The Washington Trip, an unforgettable joy, istalways an offset to the tragedy of final exams. Another compensation is the greatest event of the four years, the Senior Prom. -- AWe want to thank our faculty advisers for ourlhappiness and success, -the chief adviser, Mr. Althenn, assisted by Mrs. Estabrook, Mrs. Bailey, Miss Ennis, Mr. Hill and Mr. Steengrafe. , Ten
