We stopped at Port University and when we put out to sea . N 3 we found a most unusual stowaway. After due consideration, consultation and concession, QQ we have welcomed him to our number. Mr. Kent Pease! Q A A V R A - ' It's contagious. Another victim! Get thee behind us, Dan Cupid. Wasn't one - enough? Capt. Schmitt-fancy that-unpenetrable, invincible, independent-what pro- p tection have we of a lesser caliber? Miss Schmitt, how could you? Nov. 25-The weather, being a bit contrary, threw our company into a terrific nervous frame of mind today. Some one had the unfortunate thought that our cruise could not last 1 if forever. So, after much solemn contemplation of all Benny Neptune had to olfer accepted an insignia in the form of a ring, which if seen in any part of the earth, will Q 6 inform everyone that here, indeed, is a personage-a member of the crew extraordinaire N f Ny, 1928 1929 Sept. 5-We entered sea of Commencement in grand style. We have but one crew-a trusty and truthful crew they are-and one and only one Captain-Mrs. Rudy . Have you ever considered the trip would have been a complete washout without her? Nov. 23-24-Such gorgeous weather in these southern seas has restored good spirits and inspired our creative genius so that our surplus energy has given us the Senior Plays V une 1-Our charts tell us a sad tale-we are near Port Commencement AA une 3-We celebrated Baby Day '. T Now since, as a typical I-Iillsider, one of your decided attributes is patriotism, you have x A A i bought entrance and are sitting this moment apprehensively waiting for the curtain to draw - aside and disclose the first of the two famous one-act plays presented by the equally famous slr Seniors. You may have observed the questionable entertainment these nervous and quite inex- ll i perienced actors are having peeking through curtains to view with quaking knees the audience N! Q1 which is to see this, their maiden production. But at length the curtain, lame and staggering, ' Q 6 N if is drawn apart and you see Mildred Rhodes and Betty Marsh transformed fno, that's not the N I RE wordj into beautiful and cultured girls, and you must admit they give a good imitation of A72 -:-,T sophistry. 1 Presently on the stage, which is made to represent summer cottages on the Bay shore f fno, I don't know where that isj, appear Fred Hansen and Russell Neider, representing two NV acceptable young men fit took a great deal of training to get this role down patj. After a N f N V' desirable lapse of time Ruth Van Sickle appears as an impatient, self-important society dame, 'N fi 'Lf which Part you must admit she plays well and with remarkable facility. Q il V Then we mustn't forget Szekely, or Matthew, who performed creditably. But, as I have A A not yet mentioned her purposely, the star of the play is none of these, but Anita Murphy in F A f the role of maid. I doubt if I or even you, who are less interested, will forget her acting M Q ability. Now, if I have failed to name the play which you have just witnessed, it is Queen - QI Anne Cottages , by M. E. Davis. 'NF If, despite Anita's excellent performance, you were rather bored, your interest will be X f :la regained by the second play, 'Op-O'-Me Thumb by Frederick Fenn and Richard Pryce, E C I which takes place fas you will see on the programj in the laundry of Madame Jeanne Marie 56:- W Napoleon de Gallifet Didier, in London. On no account, will I repeat that atrocious name, W so know you that Margie Huber is playing the part, and she had to acquire the French QM, accent but came equipped by nature with the proper temperament. You also behold three l well-dressed laundry girls, Gladys Ainslie, Blanche Broderick and Jinny Joyce Uinny has Q resurrected that coat from her now rather remote baby daysj . It took considerable persuasion ' Q? to make them submit to the ignominy of wearing those clothes. Now, that girl with the Wee 5 4 red sweater and big wash basket is Ruth Parks, and since she has a monstrous opinion of her ' 5 A .5 proficiency in dramatics I would not applaud her if I were you, she is really ultra-sentimental, -5 don't you think? But here comes Bill Clark, playing the part of a hard boiled individual 4 abominably, but Bill will learn. Really, in case you have not realized it, may I repeat that you A A A have now seen the two one-act plays, given by the likewise famous forty-five , and you need Q f not say, the plays were excellent, but- . - 'N f i N f x 1 W N f N I a p . ills Q5 ' . a - ' ? in I , I 5- if f PHARUS f X -6 .
