Row two, L to R: Claude Fennema, Eric Wenberg, Rick Johnson, Ted Sickles, Roger Smith, Bill Stewart Varsity Swimming This year's Varsity Swimming sqcad was led by last year's stars, Ted Sticl-iles and Mel Mendel- son The team lacked sufficient cleoth hot had many fine individual performers There was a new addition to the coaching staft with the resignation of Snorkel Stretch, Downing McKee moved in to aid Coach Sch pper in one of the most success- fol years in Varsity Swimming, Swimming still retains ts prestige by having the best record at Hillsdale. L . Coach Jack Schipper With the resignation ot Snor- kel Stretch , a very able Jack Schipper moved into the spot of swimming coach. This move was a very good one, Coach Schipper, with the aid of Downa ing McKee, fielded one ot the strongest teams to date.

Var Determined to bring another championship l'ome to Hullsclale Coach Frank MacGraw com prlsed a team of excellent pitching strong batting and a well balanced fielding team This years squad surprisingly enough is made up of one sophomore four luniors and four seniors Because of the lack of seniors the team IS for the most part inexperienced But what they lacked In experience they made up for in rnrtra tive and sure determination Rich Redman and Rich Ward complete the battery for this years team Wnth Ward calling behind the plate Red man delivered what is probably the fastest pitch inthe Peninsula League With Steve Klenk at first Larry Pentek at second Tom Krusuc at third and Gull Cyester at shortstop this years infield com piles a strong attack both on the field and at bat The outfield reveals probably the youngest play ers wuth not one sensor Larry Atchley the only sophomore on the team holds down left field with Ron Peters and lvar Myer both tumors at Center and right field respectively Whether they will b able to bring another champnonship to Hillsdale will depend on how much they improve both individually and more important as a team liy Baseball Hfii.
