K' indicates Varsity Teamj Peninsula League Champions! These were the words that were echoed by the Hillsdale Varsity Football Team, after their victory over Capuchino on Thanksgiving Day. Peninsula League Champions! These were the words that flared up throughout the gallery of Hillsdale rooters. These were the words that sent this gallery home in a trance of ioy and pride. But what led up to this, the greatest moment of Hillsdale's short history? lt all started with three pre-season losses, but even these couldn't hold back the fighting Knights of Hills- dale. When Hillsdale met the favored Burlingame Panthers, the Knights walked oft with a hard fought 6 to 0 victory. Next we rolled over a stubborn Jefterson team, finally winning 21-19. With two victories, Hills- dale iourneyed to Soudt San Francisco to win another close, hard fought game, 13-12. Liking nothing better than to knock over Hillsdale, San Mateo outplayed the tighting Knights, but was on the short end of a 14-7 score. Hillsdale, embittered by the near loss to San Mateo, trampled the Rams of Westmoor 45-19. As in previous meetings, the Hillsdale-Capuchino game was the crucial game of the year. Would Hills- dale be lone or tri-holder of the Peninsula League Crown? Would it be Turkey or Crown? When the hnal gun sounded, the scoreboard showed the superior Knights the best in the league, with a glorious 26-14 victory over the Mustangs of Capuchino. These were the six games that led Hillsdale to its first varsity football championship. Congratulations, Peninsula League Champions! Var ily Coach ofthe Year-Frank Collin Football Coach ot the Year! This was the honor bestowed upon Hillsdale's Frank Collin by Peninsula Sports Writers. He coached the Knights to their first Varsity Football Champion- ship. Coach Collin never lost faith in the ability of his team even though they lost their first three games. Hillsdale can well be proud of Coach Frank Collin, Coach of the Year! Coaches Frank MacGraw, Paul Armstrong, and John Gilmore gave vital aid in coaching the Champion Knights. SEE!! -15. A
