In the finals Don Sheafer was handed the job of president with Jack Maloney understudy as Vice President. To take notes was Louise Dunham as Secretary and to keep the money and bills straight was Norman Taylor. As their part of the entertainment at the Sophomore Prom a skit was presented by Louise Dunham and Norman Taylor. This eager class had the opportunity to sponsor a Friday night party in the music room thus helping to rank the Freshman class with the higher ups . The class of 1948 has shown during this year its willingness to par- ticipate in school affairs, and we know it has a promising career ahead of it in Senior High. -1. 34 -1. Urchesira The orchestra, composed of forty members, has been very active this school year. On December 1, they furnished the music for the Senior Play. Other plays put on in the auditorium were the Kiwanis Play and the Junior Play for which the orchestra provided music before the cur- tain rose and between acts. During the first semester the organization co-operated with the chorus to put on the annual Christmas Concert on December 11. The orchestra also opened the evening for two of the speakers who were sponsored by the Rotary Club during the month of February, be- sides giving two good assembly programs of their own. On May 17, they travelled to Adrian High School where they com- peted with other orchestras in a District Contest and won first place. 4- 48 -1- Band The Senior Band was active again this year. At every home football game the band was on the job doing their part in the evening's enter- tainment. On Armistice Day the band gave a Very impressive drill called Flags of Nations which everyone enjoyed very much. Several assemblies were given and also a pep band played at the home basketball games. The band gave a concert at one of the County Teachers Institute Meet- ings, and also participated in the Sunday Vesper Programs. In the District Music Festival, which was held in Adrian, the band rated first place in the second division. Father-Uauqhter Banquet On March 7, the Girl Reserves, despite the man shortage, had very heavy dates with their favorite men. It was the night the Girl Reserves entertained their fathers. The girls put on their Sunday Best, leaned on the capable arms of their fathers and had fun in the gym of the High School. Phil Seger was chairman of the affair with the help of a very efficient committee. After the dinner, Phil Johnson, toastmistress for the evening, intro- duced the welcoming speech given by the Vice President, Barbara Roth. The father's response was given by Dr. E. XV. Douglas. Each grade then gave a skit which both the fathers and daughters enjoyed. -:- 56 -1- k,,4l' WI! .zw -'va Cnmmerclal Club Banquet The Commerclal Club cloeed then xelx pleasant 3441 mth a banquet the members of the KIWHHIS Busmtss Ielatlons Commlttee bemg the guests Mr Fled W Klag flom Toledo Dean of Pow at xNdlt9 Hlgh Sthool gene a mduxtlous l6LlLllE, on th NlllJlLLl, of Ian Value m whlth he tlewed domg, the beet domg W hat would bt par and bettellng oureelves ol , .W-47 4 ,, v',..-w-- A I ' '. v ., , , - vt., V' .
