iii' 'it' ...E 1 :ie+4,.1. 3.14, 4. 1. Hillsborough High School made its original home in a small two-story of frame building in 1851. Located on Franklin Street, HHS established it- self as the first high school in Florida to become completely independent of all lower grades. Hillsborough rapidly outgrew its first little home. After oc- ' cupying a deserted livery stable for a short while, it moved to the Old Bap- i - tist Church. Progressing from one building to another, the school in 1927 finally settled in the magnificent ar- chitecture on Central Avenue that still houses the Big Red today. School life at Hillsborough is chal- lenging for all. The start of a new year sees the unsure sophomore searching for the right room, students stumbling up crowded stairways, while others are experimenting with new techniques.
