We tried so hard to gain knowledge in order to live a more useful life and become better citizens. Math, English, history, sci- ence . . . shop, homemaking . . . typing, bookkeeping . . . art, music. The going was tough at times, but the satis- faction was great when we had met and mastered these subjects that make up high school learning. Some of us took a few minutes for morning worship at St. Paul's United Lutheran Church where students conducted services. All of us had a few minutes' pause in bulletin room-to be counted, for reverence, for patriotism. We rid ourselves of the traces of sleep, took a final peep at our lessons . . . and then to class.
