the Senior Tour, in which we will sae tha slghts in washington D C , New York City, and Philadelphia Our graduat1ng class of 116 is the largest in the history of HHS as well as belng the first class whose number of graduates passed the can tury mark As this year's end comes to a close, there are many happy as well as a few sad memories Our class has led many organ1 zations we want to thank you, HHS, for DPDVid1UQ the place where we have PBCEIV ed one of the greatest gifts of our lives our educat1on Now we step out to meet a great challenge, grateful to you for all you have awarded us WHO 9 WHO we take you now into the not too dim distant future Let us gaze deeply into the gleam1ng, sh1mmar1ng crystal ball of that master seer and dlviner of dark, un seen mysteries, Madame DIANA COMPARONI But wait' what is th1s strange, fleeting apparition which appears now? why, it's only Madame Diane's apprentice seer,SUSAN MORRIS, come to polish the crystal globe that we may have a clear and und1m1n1shed view of thlngs to coma for the members of special seance what is this first vision we see in the swimming depths of the ball? It is the angered face and strident vo1ce of that famous electrical engineer, JIM JOR DAN He is clamoring for proper recogni tion of his part in the construction of the crystal ball, which, it turns out, is really nothing more than his Lottavac com puter in dlsguisa well now that we've correctly Dlaced the blame for this seance, let's get on with the show Being a logical computer, the crystal ball reveals the futures of the various members of the class in more or less alphabetical order, so uf course the first to appear is GERALD BAILEY w find him to be a very successful cartoon ist drawing a daily strip about a college student drafted into the army And look what follows Gerald into our field of vi sion jeweleress CAROLYN BARRETT, a spa cialist in diamonds Her trademark Bar rett's Karate see our classmates named leads the parade, playing on her clarinet, search1ng for H Sharp above high G The other BROwNS seem to have gone 1nto the food business JOHN is the proprietor f Brown's Better Brownie Bakery, while lady butcher VIRGINIA specializes in cured hams But it looks as if they're not the only ones who are engaged in food prepare tion HUGH BUIE is an expert lollipop tester and PATTY CAMPBELL is currently experimenting in an attempt to develop a superior tomato. Next we BRDwN DONNA marital mus1c Dur class will have its share of in trepid adventurers we can now just bare ly discern CLYDE and wAYNE CAMPTON they shoot the rapids of e rush1ng tropi cal stream in a U 8 outboard powered ca noe on the way to the rivar's shallow, sluggish delta, where they w1ll hunt croc odile with bow and arrow and BB pistol Now we meet an artistic classmate, MARY ANN CARPENTER, who has just been ap pointed heed of the Droodle Department at Paris She is joined in France by MARY COLLINS, who is studying at the Sorbonne in preperat1on to inaugu in French in the grade schools of her old home town the Louvre, in rate e course A greet encyclopedist now appears She is JANICE COMPTON, collector of Comp ton's Compilation of Mangled Misinforme tion Close on her heels is MARCELLA COOPER, who has become Senior Hostess for Trans Barnstorm Airlines The last member of this group is LARRY CRAFT, own er and operator of Arts and Crafts, Inc the world's largest model pogo stick com- DENY A sudden flesh of color whizzes e cross the globe what could it possibly be? Oh it's DONALD CRAGO, a profession the sound barrier on roller skates who is next? She's a hard worker, whoever she is Oh, yes' It's NANCY CRAMER, do ing just what her neme implies she works in an olive bottling factory Har job? Stuffing pimentos into the olives w thought at first that someone was coming with her,but now it looks as if ERNESTINE is CUMMINGS later And now here comes girl who is rendering a definite service to society BETTY CUNNINGHAM is a lady cop, following in her brother's footsteps Bringing up the rear of this group is ELE ANOR CURTIS, who is in the candy business Uh oh' Here comes another flash whizzing by It turns out to be DALE DENT in e little Plymouth car just one step end a hop ahead of a certain preacher'e white bulldog After him we see farmer GENE DAVIS, a professional cane raiser who tells us that his neighbor, CHARLES DILLDN is in Hollywood trying to get a job s lawman in a TU western Next comes a scholarly looking gen tlaman who appears to be quite pleased with himself It's KENNETH DOS5, who has devised e way to wipe out the national debt He proposes to have everyone in the country write h1mself e check for the amount of the per capita debt Here is LUCILLE DOUGLAS, e happy housewife It's about time we found a happy housewife from our class we were beginning to fear that everyone had become a member of some profession or other end there would be no one left to keep house and cook sup par But here coma two more professional women, SANDRA FARMER and MARY JANE FLING, who are partners in the interior decora- ting business. I, MARY MOORE PHYLLIS MILLER leave my golden waves to Martha Banyas. bequeath to any future senior who is short of cash, my Economics Handbook SUSAN MORRIS EDDY MULLENIX ROGER MULLENIX EUGENE NARTKER DALE PELFREY JACK POINTER leave school to catch up on my resting as I want to retlre young bequeath to John Swisshelm my beloved horses donate to Kenneth Mullenix my pack of toothpicks donate to Linda Pfeffer my dented up car fenders give to Gary Runk the back seat of my car donate to Kenney Mullenix my abllity to catch flies HISTORY As we, the class of 1960 look back upon our four years spent at Hillsboro H1gh School we wonder how the time has passed so rap1dly we remember when we first entered h1gh school All was dif ferent then and the road before us seemed endless Before long we became aware of the fact that to fulf1ll our hopes and am b1t10HS, hard work was qulte essentlal Perhaps that is why time has hurried by, for indeed we have worked hard or maybe it has done so because we have so greatly enjoyed our stay here Let us glance over the past four years to see what they have produced The first time our class came togeth er in September 1956 it was pointed out that ours was the largest Freshman class ever to enter HHS we numbered 15h The reers were football and band we had sev en boys on the football team and twenty five high steppers in the band From that start there was'no holding us back Twen ty six of our girls joined the GAA E1gh teen of our vocalists sang in the chorus we had also four athletes on each the Re serve basketball and Varsity baseball teams L1nda west started her career as a cheerleader for the football team and was Joined by Jane Stanforth to lead the cheers for the basketball team Jane was also elected as our attendant to the Home com1ng Queen Marllyn Hixon was a State gold seal certificate wlnner for the gen eral scholarship team By the start of our Sophomore year, our numbers had dropped slight1y,to 102 we had eleven gallant boyson the football team five on the basketball team and five on the baseball team me especially began to show vast strength 1n the musi cal department we were represented by 37 MUSIC makers in the band and 30 song birds in the Glee Club we chose Donna Brown as our Homecoming Attendant Perin Johnson and James Jordan mere gold seal certificate winners on the state level for the scholarship team Randy McKenzie and Ralph McEwen won superior ratings w1th their solos 1n the State music con test finals Joella Hartman, James Jor dan, Marilyn Hixon, and Randy McKenzie were appointed as our honor students Uur first Junior class meeting was attneded by the 127 remaining class mem bers me elected as our officers Randy McKenzie, John Rittenhouse, Donna Brown, and Louellen Leach Mary Jane Fling was chosen for our Attendant She was also voted FFA Queen Our Junzor Class play, STRICTLY FORMAL,was acclaimed as the best in years Of the seven FFA officers, six were members of our class Uur musicians composed a cent of the band and forty six per cent of the Glee Club The Varsity athletic teams began to appreciate the presence of our athletes as we had four starters on the football team, two first strlng bas ketball players and three baseball regu lars Our representatives to Boys' State were Perin Johnson, Randy McKenzie and Kenneth Doss Uur Girl Staters were Ann remarkable thirty seven per san Morris, Mary Jane Fling, Joella Hart man, and Sharon Shannon There were 118 of us who returned to start our Senior year Our leaders were John Rittenhouse, Larry Daniel, Verdana Jacob and Dave Henning Melinda Miller was elected by the Student Body to reign as Homecoming Queen For her Senior at- tendant, we chose Sandra Farmer The In dians, led by eleven seniors, massacred Pleasant View 21 D to glorify our Home coming festivities To climax their high school athletic careers, Don Jones and Roger Mullenix won positions on the All League South Central Ohio Football team Jim Keith was voted football team's Most Valuable Player by his teammates Perin Johnson and Larry Daniel were named to the All SCUL basketball team while Dave Henning and Fhllman Martin each earned an honorable mention Uur Senior scholarship team dominated the County competition by taking five of the first ten places Linda west ended her cheerleading career after leading the cheers for four football and four basketball seasons Charlene milkin was a cheerleader for three football and two basketball seasons Uur graduating musicians left 3h chairs to be filled in the Bend and 35 ln the Glee Club Hugh Buie acted the starring role in our Sen lor Class play, A CASE UF SPRINGTIME Our boys elected Karil williams as Prom Queen Seventy nine of us are planning to go on In I, , '. BARBARA FENNER, finally is a commercial name like Fisher, Now we can see one of the most suc cessful members of our class Cmost suc cessful in his field, anywayl RUSSELL GALL, after s long, hard apprenticeship, has at last become head baton waxer for the Podunk Philharmonic Orchestra Rus eel is not the only member of the class to have entered the world of music and en tertainment, following him is that famous song and dance duo MIKE GERMANN and BAR RY GLEAOLE And they are followed by BEU ERLY GLEADLE, a record dealer who is try ing to combat rock'n'roll by promoting the sale of silence records Here is an interesting specimen ery hair on her head is gray well, no wonder it's SHIRLEY GRAY Oops' Here's e late straggling member of our class's music and entertainment group It's BAR BARA GRIFFITH LESLIE LUDwICK'S recording company's star recorder of giggle records for carnival fun houses Her giggles do neighbor, though She's too intent on her work trying to dlscover a comet to name after herself Now, here's e sad scene to bring us back to earth we see a cold, lonesome all cell, devoid of cheer And sitting disconsolately on his bunk ls LARRY HALL He's serving a sentence of from one to twenty years for putting overalls in Mrs Murphy's chowder This is such a sad pic ture even our crystal ball seems to be crying At any rate it's getting awfully misty and hard to see into But inside it we can just barely see BOB GREGORY rushing up to maintain operations with a bottle of windex That gives us s much better view of MARILYN HARBOLD, one of the leading mem- bers of the PTA and JOELLA HARTMAN a lady mathematician who has devoted her life to the study of how to trisect an an e But oh, no' It hasn't been wo minutes since we had the crystal ball shined, and here comes a cloud of dust Inside the cloud are wAYNE HELPHENSTINE and DONALD KERRICK, giving Don Crago some stiff competition in the speed department when the dust clears away, we should be able to see another lady scientist, MARI LYN HIXON who isolated that rare element ambroeium Next to appear is a group of ladies of diverse callings.
