They were: Archie Nine, Linda Bever, Jan Hesser, Bob Congleton, Sue Webster, Walter Benefield, Randy Ludlow, Dale Howard, Carolyn Bever, Judy Stephens, Harry Freeman, Larry Booe, Barbara Schenck, and Stanley Howard. We were fortunate enough to have Miss Betty Bailey in this big year which was to be just the beginning of our education and the open of a new world for us. Miss Bernice Hyatt, Mr. Max Livengood, and Mr. Lincoln Lankford had the pleasure of putting up with us for the next five years. As we entered Junior High School, we were wondering if we were ever going to gain the title of Seniors. In Junior High, we had Miss Thelma Ebel for our class sponsor. During these past eight years, we lost and gained classmates. As Carolynn Stewart, Jan Hesser, Mike Funk, Archie Nine, Walter Benefield, Dale Howard, Sue Webster, Sherry Norris, Donald Fortner, Ronald Fortner, Randy Ludlow, Robert Head, Carolyn Bever, Bobbie Parker, and Vernon Gooding entered the Freshman Class, we knew that we .were getting closer to our goal. Our class officers werez. President, Jan Hesser, Vice-President, Ronald Fortner, Secretary- Treasurer, Donald Fortner, Reporter, Mike Funk, and we elected Mr. Merrill Bush as our sponsor. Later that year, we were sorry to lose Dale Howard and Bobbie Parker, but the gain of Jack French made up the loss. During our Sophomore year, we ordered and received our bright, royal blue class sweaters. We elected: President, Walter Benefield, Vice-President, Mike Funk, Secretary-Treasurer, Sue Webster, Reporter, Jan Hesser, and Mr. Edwin Hoffhaus as our class sponsor. As we entered our Junior year, we were thrilled with the prospects of the play and various other activities that came with high school, but most of all, the fact that we had about reached our goal. We presented our-play, Mrs. Gibbon's Boys, with the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Vivian Bryant. The receiving of our class rings, magazine sales, basketball and baseball were just a few of the highlights, but the biggest of all was the Junior and Senior Trip to New York and Washington, D. C. Our class officers for that year were: President, Jan Hesser, Vice-President, Sue Webster, Secretary, Carolyn Bever, Treasurer, Walter Benefield, Reporter, Jack French, Student Council, Mike Funk. Once again in the fall of 1960, twelve Seniors walked into Hillsboro High School for the last time. Those entering were: Mike Funk, Carolyn Bever, Sue Webster, Carolynn Stewart, Vernon Gooding, Randy Ludlow, Jan Hesser, Robert Head, Walter Benefield, Jack French, Gerald Norman, and Archie Nine. We had at last reached our goal, SENIORSI With the help of Mrs. Estaline Belles, we presented our play, Alias the Butler, which we all enjoyed and had a lot of fun preparing for. Our class officers were: President, Jan Hesser, Vice-President, Sue Webster, Secretary, Carolyn Bever, Treasurer, Caro- lynn Stewart, Reporter, Gerald Norman, Student Council, Jack French and Mike Funk. Our Senior pictures, basketball, the Junior and Senior Prom at Purdue University, and other activities added to our Senior excitement. As we leave, we look forward to going out into the world, but, we will always remember the-good times we have had at Dear Hillsboro High. My name is Mr. Magoo. My wife and I decided to take a trip around the world in this year of 1981. First of all we took Rover to the city dog pound and whom did we see but Randy Ludlow. Randy, it seems, is a first class flea-picker there. Our first stop was at the Indianapolis Speedway where they were then having the greatest atomic car race in the world. As we walked through the pit area, my wife thought she recognized one of the old Hillsboro students. Sure enough, there stood Jack French, whom we found to be one of the drivers. After talking with Jack for a while, we learned that he was very disappointed because he had been coming in last. Then we discovered the reason, Sue Webster was his chief mechanic. Our next stop was in Washington, D. C., where we visited Archie Nine, who is now the President of the United States, and Carolynn Stewart, his Secretary of Treasury. From Washington we drove to the U. S. Naval Station is Maine to visit ENSIGN Jan Hesser. When we made an inquiry about him, we learned that he was down on the ocean floor swabbing the decks of the latest U.'S. Atomic Submarine. Since J an was busy we decided to travel on to Miami Beach, Florida, where we understood Vernon Gooding was employed. When we arrived there, sure enough, there was Vernon selling Indiana oranges in Florida. After buying some of Vernon's oranges, we traveled on to tour Asia and Europe. After staying in Pakistan for a few days we learned that Walter Benefield was in town, so we decided to visit him. Walter, who always did want to be an engineer, was there on the job, digging oil wells with his latest invention, his Super-Duper-Shovel-Scooper. Our next stop was merry old England where we visited the newest and most ultramodern city in the world, which, incidently, is consuucted purely of steel and glass. Here we found Gerald Norman, who is having a bit of trouble in his newest profession. He is a termite inspector in an all steel city. We left England by plane and flew over the North Pole to Alaska to visit another of the old Hillsboro students. He is Mike Funk, who is a refrigerator salesman in the Eskimo region. Believe it or not, he 's doing very well. Mike always was a great talker. We flew directly from Alaska to Denver, Colorado, where multi-millionaire Robert Head was living We learned that Robert was living on a mountain top in his million dollar home with his twenty wives. Robert always did like girls. After talking with Robert for a while, he told us that he had been having trouble with the local Indian tribe, The Dirty Foot Indians. According to Robert their chief wigwam maker had invented a new weapon known as the flying wigwam. What really surprised us was that this chief wigwam maker was a former student'of Hillsboro High, Carolyn Bever. Well Mrs. MaGoo and I finally reached home safely. We still laugh about some of the occupations of the old class of '6l. Don't you? Mr . MaGoo 611155 Hills Sue Webster, will my cheerleading position to Tommilou Flanigon provided she doesn't lose her voice any more than I did. Jack French, will my ability to handle a car to any fool who dares accept. Bob Head, will nothing to anybody, because I need it. Carolynn Stewart, will my ability to have fun at play practice to Sharon Newman, providing that she doesn't get caught. Mike Funk, will Ron Voorhees my seat in Study Hall providing it doesn't get as cold as it did when I was sitting in it. Carolyn Bever, will my ability to drive to any fool who wants it. Randy Ludlow, will be glad to leave. Jan Hesser, will my ability to jump center on the basketball team to Denny McManomy, provided he gets more tips than I did. Gerald Norman, will just leave quietly. Walter Benefield, will my ability to be student manager to Steve Summers, providing he does a better job. Archie Nine, will my ability to be in the office more times than I did to Donnie Norman. Sue Webster, will my Senior books to Sarah, my sister, for nothing plus a small entertain- ment tax of 1095. I hope she enjoys this entertainment more than I did. Jack French, will my ability to be on the road all the time to Tom Nickle, providing he can be on it more than I was. Vernon Gooding, will my seat in the Senior Class to Ronnie Wendall if he doesn't freeze. Bob Head, will my ability to get called down in English to Denny McManomy. Carolynn Stewart, will my books to my sister, Leslie Brooks, providing she doesn't write in them as much as I did. Mike Funk, will Odis McManomy my senior cords providing he can wear them. Carolyn Bever, will my ability to anyone who wants it. Randy Ludlow, will my seat in Study Hall to Donnie Nine providing he doesn't get moved 5 times in one week. Jan Hesser, will my ability to drive an old beat up '53 Chevy to anyone who can get one to run better than I could. 611155 Poem Looking for a lot of fun?
