School Employees THE 1945 HILTOP Have you seen our secretary? Sheis the livest of our crew. How can she be so merry When she has so much to do? Her time is filled completely, She never thinks of rest, And yet she smiles so sweetly And has no end of zest. I-Iere's a person we all owe A debt of gratitude. She keeps the cafeteria clean, And dishes out the food. A I0 . Who keeps our school so nice and neat? Who makes it look so clean? Who sweeps the floors and does the chores ask all the freshmen green. Who mows the lawn, rakes leaves in fall? Again I ask, 'tWho does it all? Why, it's the jolly trio that works the live long day just to make things pleasanter for us to work and play Who is the fellow standing there? With streaks of silver in his hair. Working, working all the while, Never too busy to crack a smile. I-Ieill help you if you need him wh His name is Mr. Paton, Better known as Sam. He has two other helpers To do this work you see. For all the work that must be done Is quite enough for three. Mr. Gilmore, too, a Scotchman, Talks a Scotish sort of way. You can ask the kids around you And they,ll tell you he,s okay. And if you want to meet a fellow That really fills his shoes, I know just that fellow, His name is Mr. Hughes.

THE 1945 HILTOP Piqua Did you ever hear so much noise? Where does it come from? Why, the physics class, of course. They have a jolly time up there. For a While, that is. Suddenly and myster- iously, the laughter and chatter stop. But we all know why. Mr. Girhard has just stepped in. Usually, Mr. Girhard is heard before he gets there since he carries a great bunch of keys on one key ring. Sometimes, tho, the noise they make is deafening even to themselves. So when Mr. Girhard steps thru the door, startled students gap, Yipes, I didn,t hear him, did you?', With all he has to do, we wonder how Mr. Girhard man- ages to meet two classes of physics each day, with lab twice a Week. Often, he livens the class up with a peppy, humorous story of some of his adventures, or misadventures. He served in the Navy in World War I for two years and many are the tales that he can relate to the class Cand generally they're connected in some way with physics.D Seniors Giwmabuf Crash, clatter, tinkle! You,re right, another test tube gone. Quietly Mr. Cox replaces it. The odors floating through the halls can without a doubt be blamed on the amateur laboratory technicians in chemistry lab. Rotten eggs, sulphur, and other such smells are their specialty. Crash! KNOW, if you people aren't more careful, we'll have to begin charging you for the things you break, warns Mr. Cox. That might be rather expensive, we think. fDid we say mtberj. Two days out of the week the class has lab and the other three are spent in the lecture room. The lecture room isn't really as bad as it sounds. With Mr. Cox as head man, we're just like one big family. You know how families are. Darn it!
