We've all enjoyed im- mensely their grand marching this year, especial- ly the patriotic demonstration. Our band is led by Mr. Cox. A great deal of his time is spent in drilling and teaching the musicians to have more accent and better rhythm. We all like our band and appreciate the work they've done in helping with our school activities.

Bowser, Mr. Starry, man from Alaniaica, Klar. It-llmann, Damniann, Greene, Kralik, -Ioncs, Maksin, Pickerill, Robinson, Miller, long. Ludwig, Cfress, Smith, Yoliie. FIPHT PEIRIUIJ X:-HP-9:45: As I look back upon the many days I spent at H. C. H. S., l lirst recall the prelimi- nary period which was set aside for plays, ly- ceums, announcements, etc. l can still see Pick as he strolled to the altar with his royal crown cocked on one side as he portrayed a character in Wliy' the Chimes Rang , given by the Ger- man club. Oh! yes, remember how Margaret Smith made a perfect housewife in the Christ- mas playg and then we couldn't overlook all the interesting lyceums. I remember especially the man from jamaica and the Swiss Yodlers. Going from the auditorium to my first hour class, I was always deafened by a loud din of voices and a clatter of footsteps. As the con- glomeration of people finally subsided, the few lingerers rushed madly to their classes as the bell rang loudly starting the first hour class. Re- member when we walked into the auditorium one morning and held our breaths as we saw six chairs balanced carefully on one tiny table. After we viewed the state of affairs we scurried over to band and what did we hear but a band screech of trombone which turned out to be just jerry Yorlie imitating Tommy Dorsey. Un top of that we looked around and saw Lindh Young wiping lipstick from behind his ear. I wonder what julia Anne meant when she said, Is my lipstick smeared? l could go on for- ever telling you about the Hrst hour but as you read on through this book you will learn more and more about life at H. C. H. S. 9
