May it help keep alive the abiding friendships, the unfaltering cooperation, and the determined spirit which is housed in this strong edifice as it prepares the citizens of tomorrow. The strength and power of this prevalent age is symbolized by this building and by a student body which possesses the quali- ties of loyalty, truth, and spirit. Your annual staff proudly presents a reflection of the story that is Hillsboro, l957. May you ever pride yourself that you are a part of the YEARS OF THE MODERN. dedication A dream came true for Hillsboro this year when the Fathers' Club and Parent-Teachers Association made it possible for us to have a full-time student counselor. Mrs. George May- field, who retired from the academic classroom last year, was ideal to fill this need. The entire student body, especially the Senior Class, is indebted to her. As a member of the student body, as a member ofthe Senior Class, or as an individual, each one of us has felt deeply the influence of her wisdom and her interest in us. Mrs. Mayfield has long been a first! She was the first teacher to offer a course in family relations at Hillsboro and sponsored Hillsboro's first clinic staff. As a biology teacher her influence has been far-reaching. As much as Hillsboro itself, she has been our fostering mother. Very sincerely and grate- fully we dedicate this record of our last year at Hillsboro to Mrs. George Mayfield. MRS. O Mullen Rambles The Burros launched their AAA debut suc- cessfully with an impressive win of 20-7 over Father Ryan High School. Hillsboro, demonstrating the same hardhitting attack as was displayed in their initial game, crushed Lawrenceburg by a margin of six points. Coach Henry Nance's squad showed a bal- anced team in holding the heavy but sluggish Goodlettsville Troians scoreless while rambl- ing for two TD's. After three early season victories the Burros met the powerful Litton Lions and fell by a score of 40 to 6. The team, anxious to avenge the previous defeat, eased by the Columbia eleven 33-13. The Burros showed tremendous spirit in battling the East Eagles to a 20-20 tie before a large homecoming crowd. The Hillsboro team rose to the oc- casion to defeat Coach Hale Harris's old alma mater to the tune of l3-6. The city's Most Valuable Player, Tommy Wells, along with his Cohn teammates proved too much, as the Burros fell by the wayside. The Hillsboro team played their most spirited game against our arch rival, M.B.A. Except for faltering in the late stages of the game, the Burros proved to be equal to the much publicized Maroons. M. B. A. took advantage of the breaks of the game to outscore the Burros in the touchdown depart- ment, 6 to l. The team's seven Seniors played a creditable ballgame in their last attempt to gain a victory for their school. Although Hillsboro lost the last game to Du- pont by one point, they showed the same fine spirit as was illustrated throughout the season. hillsboro varsity football schedule 20 Ryan 7 l 9 Lawrenceburg l 3 I2 Goodletsville 0 6 Litton 40 33 Columbia l3 20 East 20 l3 Central 6 5 Cohn l 8 7 M.
