German, Speech Clubs Clubs Keep Activities Going The German Club activities this year were not hindered by a slow start. In January a preizel and cookie sale was held. In February the club enjoyed dining at the Rheinlander, a German restaurant, and also went ice skating and bowling later that month. Authentic German entertainment, highlighted the potluck dinner held for club member's parents. In the spring they hiked up Saddle Mountain and later a day was spent at the beach. This has been the most successful year of German Club. The basic goal of this year's Speech Club was to promote better com- munication and expression of its members. They did this actively competing in interscholastic speech contests. Different events included debate, inter- pretative speaking, impromtu, extemporaneous speaking, oratory and expo- sitory. The 1971-72 Speech Squad performed well in all of these events, but greater membership of interested people is always encouraged.
