The Chorus this year has 89 members - one of the largest Hillsboro has ever had. During the last four years the Chorus has shown noticeable improvement: In the last three years the group progressed from a Class B second to a Class B first. It then moved to Class A and received a second in 1976. This year the group is working for its first Class A first. Swing Choir Row 1: M. Stanek, L. Cary, T. Novacheck, T. Hofmeister, M. YES is not a new club but an old one re-named. Not actually affiliated with the Future Homemak- ers of America national organization, this group elected to re-name itself Young, Eager Seekers, a title which implies that these teenagers are willing to perform a variety of domestic tasks. The Seekers inflated their treasury through various projects. For instance, each member con- tributed two squares for a beautiful quilt that was raffled off during intermission of the Senior Class Play. This activity rewarded not only the lucky individual who received the quilt, but also the seamstresses, as it gave them an opportunity to hold an old-fashioned quilting bee - to sew, con- verse , and eat! The group also compiled a cookbook, an idea that had IOOIS in former years. Every member chose one or more of their favorite recipes, typed it, and submitted it. Despite publication disputes between the company and YES , copies of the book were at last printed. And last, but not least, as the Hillsboro food fans may attest, the YES Club sponsored several successful bake sales during the 76-'77 year. TWIRLERS: Terri Tangney , Maj. The council first approved the year's fund raising activities. The council has traditionally supervised the magazine sales. This year the council decided to switch to a different magazine company. Their strategy worked and sales rose more than S1500 to a total of about 35000. The council also managed the Homecoming celebration very smoothly. In April, some of the council rep- resentatives attended a meeting of several area Student Councils in Richland Center. All in all, the Student Council has had a very active year. S. C. The girls started each day at 6:30 and closed at approximately 11:30. They held mock City, County, and State elections and meetings. The imagi- nary City of Tamarack elected Linda Cary as City Clerk. The highlight of the week came on June 19 when the girls held mock legislative sessions in the Capitol building. This provides high school juniors and seniors with the opportunity to learn not only about their government, but also about other people. Every day the Boys' Staters were out of bed by 6:30 a.m. and were in bed by 11 p.m. The students participated in one of four daily classes, political party events, government activities, various athletic contests, and in several social pastimes during the day. And I will always remember all the times we had Through all the tears and all the times of being glad So just be happy that's all that matters anyway. And keep on trying , You'll get just what you want some day Cuz wherever you go and with every single thing you dooo Throughout your lifetime we'11 always be a part of you. So Long . . . So Long my Friend Don't ya know we love ya Don't ya know we need a friend Well I know that you're happy to go so, So Long my Friend Goodbye So Long my Friend Goodbye So Long my Friend Goodbye Class Motto: OUTLOOK I feel sorry for the nearsighted people Who can't look past today's sadness Into tomorrow's laughter, But I love the farsighted people Who can't see today's reality Because they're always dreaming of tomorrow's Beauty. Harland Johnson Harland Johnson, better known to us as Swede, worked for the Hillsboro School District for 20 years. He is missed very much by his fellow workers, students, and faculty who depended upon him to do so many things for the school. Harland's military flag was given to the school by Mrs. Johnson and it will be displayed in the gym in memory of Swede Johnson. 1 Q- 1 - ,Qui c , ...J . ,, ... s , A i'4fg.ff ff f 25,51 ' J. ,-MLN --,.,.
