Coach Jensen yells last minute advice. 13' it WRESTLING SEASON PLEASES JENSEN Doing as well as expected with a 6-6 team record, the wrestlers achieved unity and an increasing number of fans, whose ranks promise to grow. Pete Benish, M.V.W. , and Mike Onsager, captain elect, finished the year as conference champs while Norm Stanek was runner-up in his weight class and Steve Onsager, M.I.W., placed 3rd . Pete and Mike O. were crowned Regional champs at Tomah as Norm placed as runner-up. All three traveled to Viroqua Sec- tionals but were defeated. All in all, the team had a good year. Bestowing its own honors, the team named John Liska MVP and captain-elect. He earned these honors by leading the confer- ence in scoring with 314 points, and by leading the Tigers in rebounding and steals. John had 232 rebounds and 73 steals. Norm Stanek, Jim Goodman, and Doug Nofsinger went to sectional competition with Norm placing third. Pete Benish was outstanding in the shot put, but he just missed qualifying as did Bob Liska at high jump. Dave Subera handled the 440, Dennis Novy ran in the 880 relay, Jim Good- man won in the 880 while Greg Braitwaite ran sprints and did the broad jump. Some sports take pride in individuals excelling in unity, but trackmen stand alone in the winner's circle.
