IN MEMORIAM . . . JESSE L. SHERMAN The loss ofjesse L. Sherman was a great one to our school and community. He had dedicated his life to young people. His contributions as a teacher and as a member of the Board of Education were priceless. Though he is not with us, the knowledge and understanding which he gave us will always remain. ft' ,i

FOREWGRD - A school building is con- structed of steel and cement, strong and permanently estab- lished, but it is designed to ac- commodate an ever-changing flow of students. Year after year buses empty their loads each morning and people stream in waves into the hallways and classrooms. To the rhythm of slamming locker doors, tides of students wash in and out of the TABLE OF CONTENTS Introductory Pages Administration Seniors Underclassmen Junior High Section Sports Activities Organizations 97 - 106 Elementary Grades 107 - 115 Outlying Schools 116 - 119 2 rooms and corridors and finally back to the buses, leaving the building empty. Carl Sandburg in his poem Sky- scraper, says It is the men and women, boys and girls, so poured in and out all day that give a building a soul of dreams and thoughts and memories. As each individual forms a part of the mass, so each personality contributes -to the whole of our school's soul - that abstract thing we call school spirit. Soon we, the class of'67, will be leav- ing Hillsboro High. With us we will take our individual dreams, thoughts, and memo- ries, many of which were mold- ed in these halls and rooms. Before we leave we present the 1967 ECHO, a pictorial history of our senior year at Hillsboro High School.
