ENGLISH, SPEECH The required English courses include a challenging course in composition and an interesting study of English lit- erature. The Department of Speech of- fers valuable practical training in addi- tion to class instruction. BUSINESS, ECONOMICS The preparation of students for effi- cient participation in the complex busi- ness society of today is the aim of this department. Opportunity for first hand experience is offered. HISTORY, GOVERNMENT Preparing younq men and women to be the voting citizens of tomorrow is an important job. An understanding of past experiences and problems with a View to solving new ones is the full time aim of this department.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES A knowledge of several languages is an asset to anyone who is entering the professional world. It is valuable not only from a scholastic but also from a cultural viewpoint. HOME ECONOMICS, AGRICULTURE The Department of Home Economics teaches the young ladies to be capable and efficient homemakers While in the field of Agriculture, the young men learn to make the most of the soil. MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING The mastery of Math is proof of an alert mind. It is one of the most useful subjects offered here. With the numer- ous Engineer majors, it is evident that this department is an outstanding phase of Hillsboro College.
