We dedicate this l946 Edition of El Guiador as a book of memories to the fine qualities of Hillsboro's own JO pCLffQl 60l'l Attractive in person, affable in manner, kind of heart, devoted to friends, courageous in the face of obstacles, our Mr. lo Patterson possessed unusual powers of leadership. During the years, he has enmeshed his life in the warp and woof of the Hillsboro schools. Each task that came to his hands he performed with rare fidelity and superb ability. His athletic friends called him lo because they loved him. Those struggling with the Three R's found him gen- tle and sympathizing. The college students knew his advice was sound, his common sense reliable. To the teachers he was a guide and inspiration. With his administrative colleagues he was a cooperative and capable fellow worker, modest and unpretentious in manner and word. All the tributes brought together are a beautiful symphony of one who made life admirable in the eyes of those who knew himgbecame symbolic of Io Patterson's univer- sal appeal.
