We feel that the students of Hillsboro College and Senior High have gladly sacrificed certain elements in the 1944 EL GUIADOR in order to attain this goal. We have combined in our book everything connected with our school-teachers, clubs, classes, athletics, and favorites, We leave our book to serve as a lasting memory of these Wonderfully spent days in dear old H.I.C. Probably in later years you will look at these pages and laugh or sigh. That's what we wantp our Work and efforts will be justified. Q ,fi , , 'girl ,,,- in 0 ' ft, t,g5,,3m.1 W lf' DEDICATION' Hopefully, We look to the youth of tomorrotlv in the terrible crisis of today. On wide flung battle fields our boys are laying down their lives so that this Youth may live in a free World. To them We dedicate this 1944 EL GUIADOR. i I g ,V , W my iiy ' . itffffsf fh ill at K . CAPTAlN IACK DARDEN Hillsboro All-round good player BUGS BUNNI ES Edsel Bassinger, Leonard Moore, Bugs Hill, Gus Hilton, Douglas Conaway, Pete Ward-Mascot. The Bunnies depended more on team play than individualism although each player had occasional flashes of brilliancy. The team was composed of Captain Bugs Hill, Bish Barbour, Kenneth Counts, and two promising newcomers, Gus Hil- ton and Edsel Bassinger. Counts was the leading scorer with Hilton and Hill not far behind. ln the first over-time game Gus Hilton sneaked in a Crip shot to defeat the Mustangs l9-17. The steady play- ing of Barbour and Bassinger proved their ability. CAPTAIN BUGS HILL Uses that brilliant mind of his to general a good team. ' MUSTANGS Horace Reed, Charles Lawrence, lames Duke, Robert McCauley, Roy Wallace, Iimmy King. The guiding lights of the Mustangs proved to be Co-Captains Charlie Lawrence and Thos Breeding.
