'i'In the spring, I1 yormg rncmls fancy Lightly turns to lfzoughts of love? And thus it is on the campus of H. C. A passer-by can be certain that spring is coming when the First braver students begin to sit on the front steps. Then, as the days grow warmer and the air grows balmier, these first few betake themselves to the curb and the grass. Finally, one clay at noon you'll walk through the hall-which, a Week before, was thronged-and on one will be in sight. Perhaps there'l1 be a teacher guarding the steps to the second Hoorg even he or she will be casting wistful eyes toward the hum of voices which comes through the open door. just as sure as fate, new love affairs become evident. Spring seems to give impetus to affairs among those who haven't as yet become attached. Perhaps squabbling can be seen among couples of longer stanclingg spring fever with its disposition changes is playing its part there. At almost any hour of the day, you can peer from a window and see at least one couple stroll- ing toward the store for refreshing drinks. Teachers begin to notice more and more absences from classes-more and more low grades--more and more eyes staring into space as they lecture one Mendel's Law, soil erosion, or the like. WVhat can be the matter?'l they ask. Then they happen to ' glance out of the window, and they recall the same scene from the year before, and the year before that- Spring at H.
